I am an Avid wargame mostly Strat and Op games not so big on tac games
I already have TOS UV WIR PACWAR RFTS
I am thinking about Flashpoint, WITP, but what should the 3rd one be? if Guns is out by dec I will buy it but I dont think it will be ready by than I am stuck

try COTA if it is out
or
get a credit towards COTA for when it does come out
or
get HTTR and then get COTA for your birthday ?
or
wait for GOA, along with the rest of us
or
get CoG if you are a Napoleonic era fan (Edit: how did i forget CoG)
or
get (cough) a non-Matrix product from Battlefront or Paradox etc

Ah, another ultimatum from she-who-must-be-obeyed - Join the club

Conquest of the Aegean (nearing gold), Crown of Glory, War in the Pacific - that'll keep you busy until this time next year.

Does it have to be Matrix?

I mean there are a lot of great games here, but SC2 and SR2010 would be nice under the tree also. And then throw in CotA.

Strategic Command 2 : looks like it's not going to make it for this year - a pity.
Supreme Ruler 2010 : I'm hearing good things about this one.
Conquest of the Aegean : Check out the AAR currently being posted by Mark Kratzer in the open forum - if that doesn't trigger the "Need for (Operational) Speed", nothing will

Yes, of course. What kind of silly question is that? Hehe, but seriously I don't think any of the suggestions here would steer you wrong - all are great games. I was playing around with the COTA beta some more while away on a Matrix business trip and it completely sucked me in. I can't wait for it to be released so that you all can have some fun with it.

Regards,

- Erik

Thank you all
I have never looked at COTA before and will think about it
SC2 looks good but I really like Matrix (I am loyal because of WIR )
I would really like a Nato Warsaw pact WWIII game (old Gary G Nato Comander) but can not find one at that scale
I have a number of games from Paradox (Vicky, EU2, HOI1 and 2, COTN ) Diplomacy looks good but I am waiting on a few friends before I jump on that one (we still play it once a month OTB anyway)

You only need one new game: WITP. Once you get into it, there is no time or desire for any others, for at least a year. I used to buy 10-20 games a year. I bought only one other in the first fifteen months after purchasing WITP...

Supposedly not so Eddy. Moon has commented on a December release, just recently. A few AARs are on going.

Now December release doesn't mean before Christmas, but rest assurred things are happening and SC2 is right around the corner. I'll wager Jan 2006, when all our Christmas toys are starting to get old.

Come on guys
he says he wants to get WitP with his first choice, it is the 3rd one he wants help on :)

as a beta tester for Crown of Glory, I got to give it another vote, very good game

not sure if the BoB/BTR Matrix Verison will be ready by then, but if it is, I would have to give thumbs up for that one too

(hey, if Tanker can drop a plug, I can too :) )

Last AAR that I read mentioned that there wasn't even any AI yet.

Lol well that takes care of that OR since AI's only take a couple of days to throw into a game nowadays I don't think that's much of a setback.

If you like sports games then i'd suggest playin NBA 06. It probably looks to be the best looking and feeling game I've played.. but well, thats just my opinion.
