Tankerace -> Hmmm, Frenchie Dreadnoughts anyone? (12/1/2005 5:26:15 AM)

While they won't be in the WPO scenarios out now, I am working on a French Naval OOB for new scenarios. All Franch Naval Guns will be added to the device list in the first patch, with the navy following later. I figure we could have some French Far East conflicts (leaving Britain, China, and America out), or since in the beta phase we figured out we could do War Plan Red Scenarios, why not War Plan Gold? Enjoy these new screens.

[:D] Churning them out I see!

The French should be fun. I bet their experience levels will be pretty low though. Britain and France versus the US? It'd be a nightmare.

Brits and Japs vs US and French.. now that would be fun, ofcourse, why the french and british would have most of their battlefleets in the pacific is beyond me [:D]

Excellent news on French dreadnoughts! Now I will be able to add a few to Orange Dawn with you doing most of the work for me, Tankerace! Thanks! :)

Tankerace -> And not to leave out the Ruskies.... (12/2/2005 3:14:51 AM)

Again, devices are in, but the classes will follow later.

Cute, but where's the wine cellar? (vague recollection of a WWI French warship being torpedoed and surviving undamaged as the torpedo hit the wine cellar)\------------
ahh found it, not quite as I remember though

from http://www.naval-history.net/WW1NavyFrench.htm

Jean Bart, damaged 21st December 1914, southern Adriatic Sea in Strait of Otranto - torpedoed once by Austrian "U-12". As the French battlefleet was carrying out a sweep into the Adriatic covering the transport of supplies to Montenegro, they experienced the power of the submarine to influence surface ship strategy and tactics. Adm Lapeyrère’s unscreened flagship "Jean Bart" was hit in the bow by a torpedo, reportedly abreast the wine-store and just before the forward magazine which remained intact. Although she stayed afloat and reached Malta safely, the French blockade of the Adriatic was moved south of the Otranto Straits and thus became more distant. Some sources, even recently published ones, describe "Jean Bart" as sunk in this attack.

Hehehe, i can see this now "Shell penetration.. *WINE CELLAR EXPLOSION!!!!!*"

Mifune -> RE: Hmmm, Frenchie Dreadnoughts anyone? (12/2/2005 7:33:19 AM)

I assume that the French Morale goes way down upon seeing "*WINE CELLAR EXPLOSION!!!!!*" message?

Strebe's excellent link highlights the huge impact of the submarines on the French battle fleet, both in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, thus in my opinion confirming the quite accuracy of WPO sub system. Looks like subs were INDEED rather deadly [:)]

Just to clarify, the French large fleet wont be in the first patch, Im the kind of guy that releases things all at once. Making all the individual ships and classes doesn't take long, doing accurate graphics is [;)]

But, within a month or so I hope to have the French and Russian navy fully modeled, for more what if scenarios.

I have in my mind a specific 2 or 3 vs 2 PBEM scenario once these navies are done, with France, America, and Russia on one side (to be controlled by individual players) and Britain and Japan on the other. Could make for a fun, ferocious PBEM game (I figure small map, as far east as Wake, as far West as Malaya, maybe even Colombo, as far south as the coast of New Guinea, and all the way North).

Obviously it wouldn't be an attempt at accuracy, but a fun uber what if multiplay PBEM battle.

Oh BTW, Mifune, is your avatar from the movie Rashamon? A very very well done movie IMO. Hard to sit through at first, but it really sucks you in.
