DEI

One of my sub sunk one of the damned dutch ML, south of Borneo.
My Nells based at Palembang placed 1 torpedo on CL Tromp, at Tjilitjap.
One enemy TF has been spotted north of Sabang. It seems is composed by 6 CA, but probably they are DD or AP or AK.
Maybe is trying to reinforce some base, as he tried to do in the PI.
I moved 78 LB and 17 Zero in Georgetown.

BORNEO

Chuck moved some B-17 in Tarakan to bomb Brunei. I think he wants to bomb my oil plants.

PI

My troops have occupied Cebu, capturing 2225 enemy soldiers.
Now only Manila and Bataan are in US hands.

CHINA

I captured Yenan. Chinese troops are now retreating towards Sian.

SW

Chuck tried one of his preferred tactics, attacking Rabaul with guerillas. But the enemy was repulsed easily.

George Patton -> RE: Dai Toa Senzo - Pat vs Chuck - CHS mode - Jap size (2/24/2006 6:23:09 PM)

Reo of 1/31/42

SW PAC

CV Lexington come near PM to attack some merchant ships sailing in the area. 1 AK is heavy damaged. After that her planes attacked PM.
PM afld is only size 3, so some Vals and Kates in the base managed to attack Lex with no results.
Today we landed in Shortlands, Buna and Talasea and we captured Finschafen.

I.O.

The big TF spotted N of Malang is composed by numerous merch ships. I thought Chuck wanted to land in Nicobares Is. but the ships passed them.
My planes taking off from Gerogetown sunk 2 AK and damaged another 3. I don't understand why is transporting troops with only AK. Maybe this was a supply convoy for Singapore.

George Patton -> RE: Dai Toa Senzo - Pat vs Chuck - CHS mode - Jap size (2/28/2006 10:49:47 PM)

Rep of 2/1/42

We entered in February, and I hope this will be a good month for the japanes empire.

SW PAC

Landing at Buna, Talasea, Buin, Madang.
During the afternoon Buna, Gasmata, Talasea and Shortlands Is. have been captured.
The Lexington is gone. My planes lost the track south of PM. I think she left.

CENT PAC

A minefield is cleared at Kwajalein, but one PG hits a mine.

DEI

SS I-156 placed 2 torpedoes on an AK, but another SS resulted damaged in the same region.
Meanwhile another allied AK sunk south of Timor and another one north of Brunei.
Palembang afld is bombed today. Not much damages anyway. 1 Zero lost vs 4 Martin 139.

CHINA

With great surprise, A-24 and P-40 attacked Taan base taking-off from Nanning.
1 TK and 1 AP resulted damaged. Only 1 A-24 shot down. Great move by Chuck. Is continuing beating me everywhere it's possible.

MALAYA

Also here Chuck tried to punish me, attacking Johore afld, but with no important results:
only 1 Ki-30 destroyed, while he lost 2 Blenheims and 1 P-40.
My planes from Georgetown attacked enemy ships at Sabang, Medan at the Nicobar Is.
1 MSW and 3 AK are sunk and a lot of merchant ships are hit and damaged.
My troops liberated today Victoria Point.

PI

I ordered to the 2nd and 56th division to shock attack Bataan, supported by the Shuzan Nav Infantry. Chuck has 9500 men there, I hope this will be enough.

BURMA

After retreating due to the undecision of the commander, (substituted), now my troops are marching with decision towards Moulmein.

As you can see, Chuck is doing a lot of efforts everywhere. It's a good defense and I have to use all my assets to continue my expansion.

George Patton -> RE: Dai Toa Senzo - Pat vs Chuck - CHS mode - Jap size (3/1/2006 12:24:42 PM)

Rep of 2/2/42

SW PAC

Landing in Madang, Tulagi.
Buin, Madang conquered.
At Milne Bay some desperate allied soldiers, coming from PM attacked my garrison, but they were repulsed in the jungle.

DEI

I landed troops in Morotai
SS I-166 is sunk north of Timor.
6 Martin shot down over Palembang, while trying to bomb the oil plants.

MALAYA

38 Fortress attacked Georgetwon airport, destroying 1 Zero and 2 Sally. 1 B-17 shot down. The afld is lightly damaged.

An heavy raid against Johore afld by the allied planes taking off from Singapore, Kuching and Java. I've lost 21 planes vs only 7 of the allied. The afld took several
hits.

Both afld are still operational.

2 PG and 6 AK are reported sunk today, and several others damaged. My planes spotted dozens of merchant ships approaching the Singapore area. I suppose is trying to reinforce the garrison. Or, maybe, is planning to pull out the troops, but it would be too risky. I think the first option is more probable.

Another great surprise at Mersing. I spotted one enemy SS and some troops landed. [&:]
Good move by Chuck, but my troops presents there will destroy the enemy.
He will probably try this type of move in other parts of Malaya. I don't have garrison everywhere but it's not a problem, also if I'll loose some bases. I will conquer them later.

PI

At Bataan my troops reduced the fort to 3.

Mistmatz -> RE: Dai Toa Senzo - Pat vs Chuck - CHS mode - Jap size (3/1/2006 6:46:25 PM)

1 AK sunk by SS I-165 off Balikpapan.
SS I-156 placed 3 torpedoes on DD Vampire and sunk him, south of Sorebaya. Vampire could be one of the escort of PoW. I have to watch carefully every meter of sea.

The 56. Bde captured Morotai.

MALAYA

Today I sunk 1 PG, 1 SS and 3 AK.
Today is the second day that I have reports of naval bombardement at different location, but the report shows no ships. [&:] Anyway no damages reports.
Georgetown attacked again: 1 Zero, 3 Nell and 1 Sally destroyed. Only 5 B-17 damaged.
More damages and losses in Johore: 2 Zero, 5 Oscar and 19 bombers destroyed. 1 Hurricane and 4 bombers shot down.
I have evacuated the arfield and scattered the planes between Georgetown, Palembang and Singkawang.

North of Sabang my planes attacked CL Ceres and hit him with 1 torpedo. 1 Nell shot down.

As I supposed yesterday, new enemy unloading in Malaya. Today in Alor Star.
The few men landed yesterday in Mersing have been all eliminated: 38 death.

PI

The fort in Bataan is reduced to 0. I hope to conquer the base tomorrow.

SW PAC

I captured Tulagi today.

BURMA

I transferred in Bangkok 22 Betty and 15 Sally, escorted by 36 Zero and 9 Tojo. The will attack Rangoon, from where B-17 are taking-off to bomb Johore and Georgetown.
The other base used by the B-17 is Batavia, that will also be bombed tomorrow.
But the forecast is rain, so I don't know if they will take off.

I attach here a pic of Malaya. (especially for you, Mistmaz [:)])

PI

Bataan is occupied today. I captured 10600 allied soldiers. Now I can send two Inf Division to Manily.

MALAYA

Today I sunk 5 AK and 1 MSW.

Chuck sent a surface TF to bombard Georgetown. Not much damages inflicted.
During his way back to home, the TF has been attacked by my planes.

- CA Cornwall hits with 2 torpedoes
- CL Enterprise hits with 1 torpedo
- DD Napier hits with 1 torpedo
but:

CL Glasgow hits with 7 torpedoes and sunk [:D]

Mistmatz -> RE: The Fall of Bataan (3/6/2006 7:39:23 PM)

nice pics, thx. [:)]

What is your plan for Burma? I see on the upper map that you havent conquered Tavoy yet, so I wonder about rest of Burma. Do you want to trap allied troops there by invading India or do you need free troops first?

I think there are two full divisions assigned to Burma army, do you use them in Malaya instead?

Nice hearing about the british bombardment group. [8D]

George Patton -> RE: The Fall of Bataan (3/7/2006 8:54:39 AM)

MALAYA

Another small british landing in Malacca and Kuala Lumpur. The bases will surely fall tomorrow.

BURMA

3 Hurricane destroyed in Rangoon and 1 Sally shot down.

BORNEO

Brunei airbase is now operational. And planes from there attacked the numerous allied merchant ships sailing in direction of Singapore.

Today my planes in Malaya and Borneo sunk 3 MSW, 4 AK and 1 TK.

SW PAC

1 PG sunk by a SS in Luganville.

DEI

I occupied Weda, in the Molucca Sea.

George Patton -> RE: The Fall of Bataan (3/7/2006 9:49:22 AM)

In Burma, in fact, I made a lot of mistake.
At the beginning my troops (Imperial and 55. Div + support units) marched really slowly through the jungle.
When they arrived at Moulmein they have been stopped by 5 enemy units. After a lot of days spent there, my patience finished and I decided to return to Bangkok and to use troops elsewhere.
Chuck told me by e-mail that he was at the point to retire his troops from Moulmein.
My troops were at a mid-route to Bangkok and I decided to go again to Moulmein.
Now the troops are still at 38 miles from Moulmein.
I think that when they'll arrive Moulmein will be full of other troops. And now I'm thinking to retire to Rahaeng.

SOUTH CHINA SEA

One of my surface TF intercepted 1 AK and sunk her.

DEI

Another devastating raid on Palembang, from Batavia:
I responded attacking Batavia from Palemband: 1 Zero and 1 Oscar vs 7 Demon, 1 B-17 and 2 Catalina

MALAYA

As preview, the brits conquered Kuala Lumpur.
I've already dispatched the 2nd Tank Regiment to north from Singapore, to capture again the bases.
At Singora the 8. Tank Rgt is unloading. He will travel asap to Alor Star, to retake the base.
Today I've sunk 4 AK.
A lot of merchant ships have arrived at Singapore. At the end, I think this is not too bad. When I'll capture Singapore I'll capture a lot of supply too. [:D]

NORTH PAC

I'm planning and preparing one Inf Unit and a BF to capture Attu Is and to build there an airport.

George Patton -> RE: The Fall of Bataan (3/9/2006 8:37:25 AM)

A boring day. Nothing important happened.

BURMA

At Moulmein the LCU are now 6. I took the good decision to give up to march towards that base. Now I'll plan some differents use of my units.

2. Tank Rgt arrived in Malacca where a group of enemy soldiers is landed and has occupied the base. I attack immediately.

I missed some AAR, but the sit was pretty quiet.

SW PAC

I'm landing in Koumac because Chuck installed there an afld (I think float plane).

CENT PAC

I spotted yesterday more TF E of Canton. I splitted the KB.
Zuikaku and Shokaku remain in SW waters, between New Hebrides and Fiji, and the rest run to Canton. I know that I cannot stop the invasion, and I don't want to. Since some days I'm pulling put troops with floating planes from Tarawa.
I'm sure he will come with at least a division. After he has retaken Canton, when Manila will fall (I think in 7-10 days) I'll go with 2-3 division and KB to annhilate the US division there.

DEI

Air Raid over Batavia today, and 17 Hurricane shot down, vs 1 Oscar and 1 Zero. Very good.

MALAYA

The 2. Tank Rgt liberated Kuala Lumpur.

CHINA

I repulsed an allied shock attack at Kaifeng, inflicting more than 2000 dead to the chinese.

At Kiukiang the allied assault has been a success, and reduced my fort to 0.

George Patton -> Future Operation (3/16/2006 6:25:07 PM)

Ok.
It's time to plane a bit the future.
I can really say that AB made on CHS mode is very different from the vanilla version.
I encountered a lot of problem with Japan. Ok, honestly I tried some risky operation, but, with the vanilla game they could be very useful.
I have to admit that Chuck is very aggressive. He try to attack me every time that he find an opportunity. But, honestly I'm very disappointed about my aviation. Instead the allied aviation has been very very useful.

But now I have to plan the future.

Imperial High Command has taken the following decision:

BURMA

For the moment I'll give up in Burma. Recon has spotted 9 LCU in Moulmein. Too much for my tired troops. They will retreat to Rahaeng and Pisanuloke. I will use some troops elsewhere, probably in Singapore to accelerate the capture of the base. I've lost two entirely months in the jungle with those troops, but I really didn't exptect that they marched so slowly to Moulmein during the first days. This surprised me and changed the whole strategy there.

MALAYA

In Singapore I have 1855 AP. Not enough to capture the city, I suppose. Anyway tomorrow I'll try a shock attack, just to see how it goes. I don't have problem of supply, so why not. If the attack will go very badly, I'll move down at least one division from Burma.
By now, I have:

25. Army composed by:

5. and 18. Division
21. and 35. Brigade
4. Mixed Regiment
6. and 14. Tank Regiment
4, 15. and 28. Eng Regiment
Seven Arty Units

PI

After the fall of Bataan I'm sending all the troops against Manila. 27 enemy LCU are presents. I have at the moment 1501 AP, with:

14. Army composed by

2, 48. and 56. Division
65. Brigade
4. and 7. Tank Regiment
1, 3. and 21. Eng Regiment
Three Arty units

I've landed the 38. Division in San Marcelino this week and the unit are now marching towards Manily.

The 4. Division is marching from Tugueguarao since Middle Age [:@]. She's still 6 miles away.

When the two division will arrive, I should have 2100-2200 AP. Maybe enough to capture the city.

DEI

In Davao I'm grouping:

1. and 2. Para Regiment
56. Brigade
Five SNLF units

From there I will go to occupy Timor. The objective is to close the escape route for the dutch defenders.

After the fall of Manila, (but Timor should be already be taken), I will go directly to Batavia.

Both operations will be covered by the mini-KB, aircraft at Amboina and the Surface Force.

This is a good question.
I suppose that shock attack should be more strong than deliberate. Am I wrong?

Dont ask me, I' the newb here. [;)]

I assume they speed things up if successful, but I also think they might result in quite some losses if you do shock attacks again fortified positions. Shock attack sounds a bit like human wave doctrine and I'm not sure if japan can afford that. On the other hand Germany in WW2 had some tactics that could qualify for that term and are not overly consuming regarding human lives. Maybe I should consult the manual again... [:)]

I send the TF Nagato to bombard during night Kendari: 274 casualties and 2 PTM sunk.
In the morning A-24 attacked the TF and placed 1 bomb on Hiei and 1 on Haguro. No real damage for both.
Before leaving the TF bombarded again: 591 casualties.

CENT PAC

SS I-2 attacked CV Lexington E of Canton I. but missed her. [:(]
Still during the night BB Mississippi and BB New Mexico shelled the island, preparing the landing.
Then, in the morning came the aircraft from the US CV's. Only 3 SBD damaged. I know, I could base there a couple of Zero's daitais. But it was too risky. The shock attack of the first day could have success and I could loose all the fighters.
It was at last the turn of the troops: 508 casualties of the 111. US RCT during the first wave.
In the afternoon they shock attacked and captured the island.
One interesting thing: 4382 japs were presents, but the casualties are only 388. Other troops still fighting. They will fight until the last man. BANZAI.

MALAYA

The shock attack at Singapore failed: 7688 casualties for me and 2454 for Chuck.

Finally I took Tavoy. My troops marched since December 7th!!!

SW PAC

SSD liberate Koumac. After that the unit will go to Efate.

CHINA

At a price of 1153 casualties the chinese took Kiukiang, as I previewed. I've lost 250 men.

No way, instaed to handle the Nanchang problem for them. They've lost 2348 men vs 137 for me.

PI

The 4. division marching from Tugueguarao is still 4 miles from Manila. Same position during the last 7 days. [:@]

In my game against ctangus I learned that fatigue and disruption are crucial for land movement speed. I'm at a point were I let my troops rest before I enter a contested hex. First they arrive almost at the same time when they move rested and secondly they arrive more combat ready. Just a thought.

PI

The first deliberate assault on Manila went well and bad.
The engineers reduced the fort to 0, but the odds were 0 to 1, so I didn't capture the capital.
I suffered 4830 casualties, the enemy 2083.

George Patton -> Operation Door Closed (3/23/2006 3:03:54 PM)

After the conquer of the PI archipelago, (except Manila), I have numerous infantry unit free from duty.

They are not strong enough to occupy important position, but I don't want to let sleep the man under the sun of the PI.

I've then decided to launch Operation Door Closed, the invasion of Timor.
I don't know exactly what Chuck has there, but I will use a lot of units, just in case.
This is the plan:

KOEPANG

56. Inf Bde
Sasebo 8. SNLF
126. IJNAF B.F.
127. IJNAF B.F.
127. IJA B.F.

DILI

Kainan Guard SNLF
23. NLF
126 IJN BF

LAUTERN

21. NLF
125 IJN B.F.

In addition, two other landing operation will take place:

At Maumere (Flores I.), I will ladn the 3. NLF,
At Waingapu (Soenba) I will land the 32. NLF, plus the 127. IJN B.F.

I know that in Timor, weeks ago, there were PoW and Repulse. Just in case, I will send the TF Nagato (5 BB, 1 CA, 1 CL, 3 DD), that is now heading towards Aru Island, were the allied are building an airbase, to bombard.
Air cover will be assured by the mini-KB and by the planes base at Amboina.

The operation will begin in 10 days, scheduled for March 1. or 2.

Meanwhile, I have a couple of other small operation taking place.

A small invasion force is sailing towards Tomini.
Another one, bigger, is heading towards Attu I. US are building a base there. I want to capture the island before the base is operational.
5 small NLF and 1 B.F are loading in Japan. Escort will be assured by a surface TF, with CL Kama and CL Kiso, with 9 DD, leaded by the Yamato, just entered in service.

One of my sub sunk one AK at Canton I. I don't know if she had still supply onboard, but it's a good result anyway.

DEI

My APDs landed a small forces in Tomini.

SW PAC

Noumea afld is a 4size base. With Lunga operational, now I can transfer my bombers and my fighters there and withdraw Zuikaku and Shukaku. They will join the other 4 CVs. They were heading to Canton I. but I decided to stop them. I want to reform the big KB. I don't like the idea to meet US CVs in the area. I don't know how much they are. Possible three of four CV. I think it's not enough 4 vs 3. I prefer the whole KB. When she will be formed again I'll send it again to East.
Anyway I have fuel problem with both the TF. I'm now sending a lot of fuel to Kwajalein. I want to create a big base there to stop the US carriers with my KB. I will leave there my CVs at the moment. I have New Caledonia and Tarawa that are 4size aflds and can operate with LBA. So I place my CV in Kwajalein ready to intervene if necessary.

PI

Tomorrow I'll try another assault to Manila. I hope this will be the good day.

BURMA

My troops are still marching back towards Rahaneg and Pisanuloke. When they arrive I'll send a couple of units north, towards Burma Roads.
