Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but why is Thailand on the Allied side? It is also set as a commonwealth country, which it never was. As Thailand's participation as a reluctant Japanese ally in WWII was due to Japanese threats and promises, it seems odd that in this war, when Thailand would not be considered particularily important to anyone it would randomly throw in with the Allies.

As a side note, I'm not sure if its ever been explained as to why the Japanese are invading at all.

Love the game and thanks for any answers.

Thailand is on the Allied side because there is no true neutral side in the game other than the Soviets. It is set as a Commonwealth country because there is no Thai country in the game (remember, this is still the WitP engine). So, I could either let it (and its navy) be in the game, or I could remove it altogether. As to why its not Japanese, the situation in the 1920's was very different. The pro Japanese coup hadn't taken place, and at the time it was buying ships from England. I chose to include it as I felt it might be a good way for Japan to go overland after taking Indo China. To balance this, Thai bases are not worth much, and they have no Army. I would rather allow a possible participation that can be circumvented by house rules than deny it (and its small navy) a chance to see the light of day.

As to why Japan is invading, use your imagination. I never set a concrete reason for the invasions (other then a war), because in PBEM I purposely made it where Japan can invade different places, and ignore others. I wanted to avoid the fixed single strategy of historical WitP. As such, I chose to leave that area of the back story open. This way, in PBEM, Japan may never attack the PI, but instead pursue a Chinese war. Or maybe it wants French Indo China. This game (especially the campaigns) was designed as a sandbox mode of play, in that players shouldn't feel confined to a single "Take the PI, take the DEI, wait for the end" strategy seen in WitP.

I see, quite clever, thanks for responding.
