2. NO - not for the next 6 months
3. Definately

1. Have you played cardboard WiF sufficiently to play independantly? If not, I will look to team you up with an experienced player who will undertake to answer your rule based questions. YES/NO

Absolutely.

2. If you answered YES to Q.1, are you willing and able to mentor someone who answered NO to Q1? YES/NO

Sure, why not?

quote:

3. Are you willing to be assigned one or more specific Test modules (eg Partisans, scrapping air units, Port Attacks etc) to test and undertake to test that module(s) for each software release? I will provide a written test plan which details those tests. Probably take about ten minutes for each Test module. Doesn't disqualify you if you're not in a position to do this. YES/NO

Sure, I think I can do that.

4. Are you, or have you ever been a Communist? No! Wait! Wrong question! Forget I asked that.

Only when playing the USSR in WiF.

Neilster -> RE: BetaTest List is open!!! (12/23/2005 5:33:53 AM)

1. I played version 5 (I think it was) solataire a fair bit but that was a long time ago and I never quite understood the naval rules. I've played CWiF quite a few times but not past about 1942. In short I'd say NO.

2. Hence NO

3. YES

4. Long have I dreamed of the day when the evil capitalist slavelords will be overthrown by the glorious peoples' revolutionary struggle and a gleaming workers' paradise will rise, phoenix-like from the ashes of the old world. Then again, that sounds like rather a lot of fuss and I'm quite busy...so no.

Yes. I played many years of both 4th and 5th edition with DoD1 and Planes in Flames. Recieved playtest credit for DoD1. Nothing serious in the last 10 years [:(] Moved to a small town without any players. Really miss it! lol

2. If you answered YES to Q.1, are you willing and able to mentor someone who answered NO to Q1? YES/NO

Yes. I would need to get up to speed on the lastest rule set first.

Yes. I have beta tested before and was disappointed with the lack of structure and feedback (Starfleet Command 3). Turned out to be a very poor release. Currently managing a CMMS implementation for my company and understand the need for accurate and thorough testing.

5. Well, I prefer to pass my info along through a PM through this forum.

6. Same as 5. Sorry, but I was once in the industry and I'd rather not run into some people that I used to work with...and they play these types of games too.

You will need to identify yourself to qualify for the Matrix NDA. There are plenty of anonymous emails you can use... hotmail... yahoo etc. You might consider getting one of those.

Khornish -> RE: BetaTest List is open!!! (12/27/2005 6:09:07 PM)

I have an email account. I don't fear emailing people, I just don't want to put my name out in the open where people can ID me.

Having worked in various gaming industries, I keep tabs on things using this alias. So, putting my name out here would put it out elsewhere. It's not as though I'm someone with name recognition to any of you lot here, but I _have_ been rather forceful with my opinions elsewhere and I don't want it to come and bit me in the rear though this medium.

I'll send you a PM with my info shortly.

Rorgg -> RE: BetaTest List is open!!! (12/27/2005 8:18:47 PM)

1. Have you played cardboard WiF sufficiently to play independantly?
The answer was at one time yes, but it's been 10 years since I played WiF, so sadly not any more. In fact, I've been waiting for the PC version so I could play again.

3. Are you willing to be assigned one or more specific Test modules
Yes.

4. Are you, or have you ever been a Communist? No! Wait! Wrong question! Forget I asked that.
Only when playing the Russians or ComChis. =D

Greyshaft -> BetaTest List is closed :( (12/28/2005 1:24:28 AM)

OK I'm drawing a line in the sand here. We have enough to get us started on testing and we will draw the initial team (plus reserves) from the fortysix people who posted their names. We will select a mix of experienced players and novices. At present your chance is less than 50% to make the first cut so go out and do some good deeds or rub beads or whatever you do to give yourself good luck. Tentative schedule is:

Week1 Jan: Finalise list of playtesters.
Week 2/3 Jan: Get NDA's signed and returned to Matrix.
Week 4 Jan: Discuss test plan for first release.
Week ? Feb: Release code to testers.

All of this is subject to change. More info after I've discussed things with Steve.

Here is the original list from which we will draw the first three waves of playtesters. If you have posted your name and I have missed it then please send me a PM pointing out my mistake and I'll fix it up.

For those who came late, unless you can fund some large bribes in unmarked currency you will not be in the initial team. Don't go home and shoot yourself yet though... there is always attrition among testers and in 3-4 months you may find yourself posting bugs with the rest of us. Don't post your names in this thread. We will open another thread when the time is right.
