Redd -> Patch 1.6. (12/28/2005 12:20:32 AM)

Hi all! Got Witp about 6 months ago, and I have to say that I absolutely love this game. Even if I'm too tired to plan out a turn, I can still come to this most excellent forum and read up on strategy and game mechanics. In fact I often start a turn running, and then alt-tab to my browser to cruise the forums untill I hear the coastwatcher's morse code sound effect, and then I go back to watch the turn[:D].

My CD came with 1.5 installed, and I was thinking about patching up to 1.6. I've read the list of changes and bug-fixes, and it all sounds good(although it was kind of fun training all of your chinese corps up to 99 exp. before '43.). But I've also read lots of threads about this change or that tweak "ruining" the game for someone.

So I'd like to ask, does anyone think I should stay with 1.5, or is 1.6 a must have?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Definitely go for 1.6. There's so many fixes, both bug and OOB, that it's really a must-have.

Absolutely, Terminus is right if you must play this now before the "final fix" is available. Do not, however, go beyond into the realm of the beta patches. There lies madness.

That, of course, is why the mythical 1.8 patch is so late. The developers are all sitting around in padded little rooms, wearing very long-sleeved white jackets, painting on the walls with their feet and drooling like sheepdogs...

(how's that for a run-on sentence?)

I am decidely underwhelmed. If one, guaging the time to be appropriate, should actually endeavor to create that wonder of the English language called a "run-on sentence", several different parameters must be decisively engaged in the process of creating the aforementioned "run-on sentence", the exclusion of which would be extremely deliterious to the actual accomplishent of the fore-stated goal, namely the "run-on sentence", which of course must seem to ramble on forever without actually making a point which can be discerned by anyone with an sembleance of an absolute certainty, while, at the same time continuing the explicative effort around said non-existent point without yielding to the always ubiquitous predilection which reigns in those who are enamoured intellectually, or otherwise, with the weaving of the language, toward the pomposity which is always and everywhere concommitant with such an exquisite endeavor, and is, naturally, the omnipresent hazard of all of those whose goal in life it to push the bounds of expression in the English language, which, of course, finds its impetus in the inherent human propensity to communicate, sometimes exhaustively, from the depths of our being those thoughts, which though entirely valid to ourselves may, in themselves, not be germane to any other living homo sapiens currently living on terra, yet which drive us to this goal of completly illucid and utterly inconsequential verbosity whichs seems to be to the unitiated simply interminable, and which, to those of the cogniscenti, is an art form in itself, sublime and without superior, except for those whose life is devoted to the ultimate excercise of that most honorable form of human communication in any language - the pun.

That is the beginning of a run-on sentence.[:D]

I don't think that sentence is run on enough, considering that we who paid beaucoup bucks for this game are waiting for a patch that will be created "when Mike gets some time."

I doff my crap to you.

Don't blame me. I've been reading Shakespeare and watching Monty Python in the same day! We taped, quite ill advisedly, the special of Monty Python and the Hollywood Bowl. I came in and found my son who was 13 at the time, listening raptly to "Sit on my face!"

whippleofd -> RE: Patch 1.6. (12/28/2005 6:37:26 PM)

I downloaded WiTP a few days ago, and it came with 1.5. I figured since the patch came out in June I would be getting the most up to date version of the game.

Bad form Matrix.
