The Readers' Choice Awards - Wargame - SILVER

Just a few percentage points behind Bull Run was the latest operational level wargame from 2by3 Games, War Plan Orange. This War in the Pacific spinoff carried all of the complexity of the 2004 title, but with a new historical twist that captured our reader's attention. Rather than set itself among more overcooked history, developer Justin Prince moved the game into "what-if" history, a piece of pre-World War II history lost to the national security archives for dozens of years. Long before the invasion of Pearl Harbor, the U.S. government had recognized the threat of the Japanese navy, developing a series of wargames combating this new threat in the Pacific. Set at the height of the power of the battleship and the rise of the aircraft carrier, the hypothetical wargame placed a strong second with readers of The Wargamer.
