I'm getting excited about the upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC) and started to think about setting up an association to mimic the WBC. But there is a big problem: while some countries have either a full roster or close to a full roster of major leaguers there are other countries that have very few major leaguers on their roster(South Africa is, of coures, the extreme with absolutely no major leaguers: and other than needing to have an even number of teams, why are they even in the WBC?). Should fictional players be used to fill the rosters or should my WBC have fewer teams? In the real world some of the countries will struggle to be competitive (that is unless there are some players in those countries who will surprise us). Other countries (like Japan) will be competitive but how do you insure that in Pure Sim they will be? Any ideas?
