Goblin -> 8.403 (1/6/2006 8:20:26 PM)

Mike Wood,

The scrolling issue appears to only be fixed in the artillery plotting screen. The glider, para, and commando screens still have the scrolling issue.

Mike:
Why is it (the patch) in the "registered game" section of Members ? We who have Free game have no number .

Goblin -> RE: 8.403 (1/7/2006 12:25:43 AM)

The patch appears to have an incorrect title of 'General's Edition' patch. It is not a patch for those who have purchased the Mega's, but for the SPWaW Mech.exe

Anyone can goto the Matrix home page and become a member of the Matrix site (seperate from the forums) and then d/l the patch. Perhaps the patch link text needs to be changed to clarify?

I did actually notice this, but assumed it was already addressed in the finished patch, sorry.

Erik Rutins -> RE: 8.403 (1/7/2006 12:28:58 AM)

All beta patches go in the registered section to prevent them accidentally ending up on the net as official since some sites check our downloads for new updates. This way, they only go into the hands of users who want to help with beta testing rather than ending up installed by someone who thinks this is a new official update after they grab it from another site. Once the beta patch becomes official, it will be available for public download via our FTP server.

Regards,

- Erik

I never have had, or seen the Scrolling Problem

KG Erwin -> RE: 8.403 (1/7/2006 12:49:13 AM)

I haven't seen the scrolling issue, either. Scroll delay can be set in the Preferences screen, and after I set mine to 3, it's all gone well.

However, if we missed anything, I'm perfectly willing to take responsibility (as I'm sure Alby and the later-recruited Goblin will agree). (It's a red white & blue conspiracy, I tell ya -- politically, I'm blue, Alby is white, and everyone knows that Goblin can be VERY red [:D][:'(] )

Alby -> RE: 8.403 (1/7/2006 12:51:51 AM)

Goblin was only one of us who had the problem so we would have had no way to test it.
We are safe on this one...I hope!![X(]

Well, what do you expect from a guy who carries a lunch-box with Ronald Reagan's picture on it? (Just kidding you, big guy -- you know I love ya). [;)]

KG Erwin -> RE: 8.403 (1/7/2006 1:15:22 AM)

For you guys who play solo, I'm anxious for some feedback on the enhanced OOB Editor. First -- make a backup copy of all original 8.3 OOBs to a separate folder. This is necessary to avoid anomalies in designed scenarios/campaigns. Then, run ALL of the options for each of the 8.3 OOBs, and then play a generated solo battle/campaign.

chief -> RE: 8.403 (1/7/2006 8:15:02 AM)

Got it this time around.....Thank you Mike Wood for all your time and effort, you warm the cockles of this old mans heart.

Muchos Gracious, Danke, etc. etc. etc.

Now a thank you for the guys on the forum who said it was there and made me find it.

Warrior -> RE: 8.403 (1/7/2006 1:35:04 PM)

Installed new patch with scenario I'm testing: While assaulting through smoke I got next to an enemy forward observer located in the same hex as a Gun Casement. Assaulting squad saw the observer but not the fortification. This seems a bit odd.

C'mon Steve the Germans had good camo experience, why you just ran into that[;)][:)][8D]

Sorry not with you there
My oob editor looks exactly the same. I can't see any button for programmer conventions and i don't know how to run all of the options for each of the oobs.
Is there a way to edit these low morale ratings ?
Is it the actual Spwaw editor program that has been changed or are these options actually in the game. A'm I missing something obvious here

sami heimola -> RE: 8.403 (1/8/2006 11:45:27 AM)

Hmm do we all "free" (no member account) players have to make new account to get this? I tried twice but there came announce that "your email address is already in use"[:(]... Of course it's in use because I write here[;)]. So, do we have to wait until "official" patch will be released?

Goblin -> RE: 8.403 (1/8/2006 3:55:08 PM)

Are you registering here again sami? You need to register at the main Matrix home page, members area. The sites are seperate, so your forum account does not count there. You are creating an entirely new account. I did so without problem, same email, username, etc.

Soldier,

You should see (in the OOB editor 5.0) a button called 'batch options'. Select it, and there will be several options available. These are the new features. You select one or more, and apply it accross the board when asked. It only affects the OOB for the nation you selected to edit, and you should back-up the original.

Mike did not add the option of setting the ratings for each nations troops differently in this patch, but did state that it is being looked into.

Heres the problem, I should see it but I don't. Whereabouts in the oob editor is this button ? I only see "file" at the top which leads to edit, save, change etc all the same options as before. I have noticed changes in game play so some of the patch must have installed properly but can't yet find any additional options or menus

If you have the newest version of the editor, the Batch button is next to the File button that you mention. If it isn't there, then you don't have the 5.0 OOB Editor.

eburr155 -> RE: 8.403 (1/8/2006 7:10:26 PM)

Silly question time:

I'm in the middle of a scenario in a long campaign so do I need to wait for the scenario's end to install it, start a new campaign, or can I just plug it in and go?

soldier -> RE: 8.403 (1/8/2006 7:14:05 PM)

Under the "about" file it says
world at war: 1930-1949 editor vs 4.3
Sorry for all the dumb questions but where do you get the latest editor ? . I have downloaded the full version of 8.2 and just assumed that it was included with it

No, it isn't in 8.2. OOB Editor version 5.0 is part of the 8.403 patch.

Keep in mind that if you're starting with 8.2, patches 8.3 and 8.4 also need to be successively applied.

I was under the impression that I did not have to install the 8.4 patch and it's OOBs to run 8.403. Do I have to install 8.4 or no? Can I go straight from 8.3 to 8.403?

I'd rather bypass 8.4 if at all possible.

Thanks.

Just to be on the safe side, I'm recommending applying all patches in succession. The 8.403 mech.exe overwrites the 8.4 version. So, you go from the full 8.2, and then the 8.3 patch, the 8.4 patch, and finally the 8.403 patch. No harm is done by doing it this way. I keep a copy of the full 8.2 on a separate CD in case of a catastrophic crash (God forbid!).

I'm with soldier on this one. I downloaded the patch twice (1.43MB) and applied it twice. The game menu says 8.403 and the scrolling problem was fixed for me, but I still have the 4.3 editor although the 5.0 Word Doc is in the folder.
