Afrika Korps -> Using Mods (1/26/2006 8:21:00 PM)

Ok, if I use the Depot Mod with modswapper, it has the programmer conventions already in it, so I can switch between vanilla 8.4 and the Albyfest. [:D]

BUT, if I am already in a campaign or battle, I should start over to apply the mod, correct? Or, if I am in the middle of a campaign, but between battles, can I use the modswapper or will it hose my game up? I have two great campaigns going, and I don't want to have to start over...but I want to try out the new mod and conventions with units I know well (my core forces).

If it has the new graphics icons, and the campaign is older, you may have some goofy looking units. WHICH IS WHY I AM WAITING FOR ALBY TO FINISH THE MOD WITH THE ORIGINAL ICONS IN IT, DAMMIT. GET MOVING ALBY!!!!!!1111oneone

Once a campaign is started, the unit data is set. Changing the OOBs (which will happen with the MultiMod) will only affect a few things, notably the Unit Icon. This info is checked each time the game starts; it isn't saved, so if the Icon Number changes, then the unit's graphic will change.

So applying the MM to an ongoing campaign won't hurt anything, but none of the new unit data will take effect UNTIL you replace existing core units with new ones. Pepairing won't do it; only upgrading will reference the OOB for new unit data.
