Best guess:

1) Delaying action near Singapore in 1942 or maybe New Guinea/Papua? [&o]

2) British roadblock just outside Hong Kong in 1941?

Good pic.

Neat picture! My dim eyesight can't quite make out the background vista down the roadway ... are those retreating vehicles or destroyed enemies?

One can also almost feel the Japanese Infantry moving quickly past this position on bicycles along jungle paths and on foot through the bush ... [X(] [;)]!

Cool pic!

Are those the same men of the previous photo? It would look so.

MUAR AREA, JOHORE, MALAYA
Road block at Bakri on the Muar-Parit Sulong Road.

On the morning of 18 - 1 - 1942 this gun and the other gun in this gun section accounted for nine Japanese tanks. The other gun is forward of this position and off to the left of the picture. It had a clear sight forward of the pole in the picture.

On the road is a destroyed Type 95 Ha-Go Medium Tank. (smoke/haze) there is also a second destroyed tank just behind the lead tank.

The section Sergeant, Sgt C J Parsons was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for the action.

The second picture is the same location 3 years later, 26 – 9 – 1945
