I just can't play the way he dose with stacking most of my Air force in One or two Places... the game should prohibit that from happening like putting all 4E from the whole map in one place...

I think your biggest problem is you are considering the game a historical simulation. Its not. Its a game based on history. If Japan plays purely historically, they should get their asses kicked, as they historically did.

According to the game design, a level 6 airfield is roughly rated at 150 airplanes. Without being overly full. There's nothing wrong with stacking that many on the base. If you overstack it it should hurt operational efficiency, theoretically just like history. Admittedly, I'm really sure not how much it hurts in the game to overstack an airfield.

To me, the only serious question is if your opponent is abusing the command assignments. If he's flying bombers assigned to CenPac out of DEI, he's abusing the system. In my opinion, that's wrong. But its not something that can easily be fixed by the game code, it has to be handled by player convention. Again, in my opinion, not all agree. Yet if he pays the political points to move them to SE Asia, he should be free to blow you apart. Its not like the B-17s have any value elsewhere. Its just that players know that while historical commanders refused to admit it.

As others have said, if the allies send significant airplanes forward in Jan 1942, you should slaughter them. Your airplanes should be where they can kill allied airplanes. Otherwise your airplanes are in the wrong place.

Finally, where is your fleet? Even the baby KB is capable of putting a dent in allied air raids and 8 BBs erase an airfield.

The "stacking" limit is 50 aircraft per level of the airfield, so a level 6 airfield can handle 300 aircraft without any penalties.

Ok this is starting to get annoying i Have over 30 Zeros on CAP 10.000 ft morale over 90 and exp over 80 im attacked by 12 Bufflos + some 2 E bombers result i menage to shoot down some bufflos and a single 2E bomber ... what is this a joke or something[&:]

30 zero are not enough! Put you Zero squadrons in LRCAP above the incoming bombers. B17 are tought beasts while your zero are very fragile. You need to outnumber his bombers to get good results.

Try putting the Zeros at their max height. Works for me against B-17s.

BlackSunshine -> RE: Frustration... can any one help... (2/12/2006 3:09:03 AM)

I see a couple of problems here.

The first is that the IJN player is stretched very thin. You are moving deep into Burma without having first captured Singapore. How are you planning to supply your advance? The best way is to obviously sail transports as far ahead as possible. That means that you have to neutralize the AF at Singapore. Or every TF you move anywhere near there is going to get nuked. Which makes supplying your advance by sea (which is the best way) impossible.

By being stretched so thin you are not able to mass any of your aircraft to confront this growing threat. You may have already blown your chance. You've lost an enormous amount of Zeros and probably skilled pilots. In any event, I know it's not what you think is historical, but it has to be done. Concentrate every thing with wings around Singapore and smash it to bits. You should be dominating the air war for the next year.

As for trying to keep things historical. You have the wonderful ability of hindsight. Allied Commanders at that time had to deal with the politics (modeled with PP) but they didn't know what you and your opponent know now. Massive air bombardments work. Think of it as Hitler and his commanders Shwerpunkt (spelling?). Concentrating every available force at a single point to inflict maximum damage. Allied commanders at the time, did not know they would be this devastating. Spruance does. You have to react and "blunt" his Shwerpunkt.
