Synopsis to 14th September 1942


Near Chandpur

On the 10th September a large British ASW fleet intercepted SS RO-66 in the Indian ocean. The submersible was hit twenty times by the enemy destroyers but is expected to survive the journey home to Singapore.


China

In response to pleas from the civilian population in Sian, a large scale attack was mounted over 12th-13th September. Large inroads into the enemy fortress were made and a number of Chinese civilans crossed the lines into safety. The final reduction of the key installition is expected shortly, after resupply of the Japanese troops.

Pacific

SS Sturgeon was hit four times by a ASW TF. The enemy vessel could well sink as a result of its damage.


Burma

Enemy airstrikes have continued, with an increasing toll on Indian based British and American bombers.

Sitrep to 21st September 1942

Sian, China

A two day assault on the 16th and 17th brought Sian under benelovant Japanese control. Scenes of joy were recorded as the renegade Chinese garrison surrendered. Over 100000 men and a large amount of war booty were captured. The road to Chungking to the west is now wide open. The Japanese army is now anticipated to have a short rest before setting off to crush Chiang Kai-Shek's illegal American gangster funded junta.


Burma

The Ki-61 combat debut was an overwelhming success. Dozens of enemy fighters and bombers were shot down to little friendly loss. Several captured enemy pilots beleived they were fighting German Me-109's.


Paramushiro Jima (Kurile Islands).

On the 21st September, the enemy warlords descended to their lowest point of the war. A large force of bombers hit the defenceless sleepy fishing village at Paramushiro Jima. Many civilians are feared dead or maimed. This gangster like activity by Roosevelt and his cronies will not be tolerated and could have serious repurcussions in any future peace talks.


Submarine war

On the 18th the 'Trusty' was confirmed sunk by Japanese ASW forces. This brings the weeks tally to some 3 or 4 enemy terror submersibles.


Ki-61 in Burma. These advanced type fighters are soon going to destroy enemy heavy bomber incursions into the Greater East Asian Co-prosperity sphere:-

DATELINE WASHINGTON - 27 September, 1942

President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill stunned the world today when they issued a joint communique announcing that the United States, Great Britian and their Allies would cease offensive operations against the Empire of Japan at 0001 GMT, 28 September, 1942 and would open negotiations through a neutral party seeking an armistice in place in the Pacific and Asia.

(I CONCEDE...MIKE EXECUTED A BRILLIANT OFFENSIVE AND HAS ERECTED A DEFENSIVE PERIMETER WHICH ALMOST CERTAINLY CAN NOT BE BROKEN BY THE FORCES AVAILABLE TO THE ALLIES IN 1942 (First Year Scenario). GOOD SHOW MIKE!!!)

Sitrep to Armistice day, 27th September 1942


Burma

A British Brigade was routed near Mandalay on the 24th September. On the final day of the war, a squadron of Ki-61 Tony's massacred a large joint US/British air army. Despite the presence of hundred of Liberators, dozens of enemy planes were shot out of the sky. Only one friendly plane was lost, due to an accident.


China

In a bold move, Kweiyang in China was captured on the 26th September. Further advances towards ChungKing were being undertaken before Armistice day.

Yamato and Musashi

The formal peace treaty will be jointly signed on these Imperial battleships in Tokyo Bay:-

First Year debrief follows shortly.....

.....thanks for the game Spence, you showed some excellent tactics, which I hope to be able to counter in our new game - 'Turning Point'. This scenario starts 1st May '42 through to 31st October '43. Both side will be able to launch offensives, with the Japs starting off with Operation 'MO'.
