Fornadan -> VR groups with no planes (2/23/2006 1:04:34 AM)

In my infinite wisdom, I've managed to get one of my VR groups reduced to 0 planes, 0 pilots

Do I have to disband the group and wait to get it back as with other air groups?

If you are able to draw replacements (planes and pilots) then you should be able to rebuild it in place. Otherwise, yes, you will have to disband it.

Not as simple as that. I've had a a very strange oocrruance of late in one of my PBEM's.

Sent to Michaelm and this is strange. On his machine and processed turns the squad would fill out but on my game it would not (using same version).

I have Nassau sitting in SF doing diddly where she'll remain for the rest of the war.

Whatever you do don't move them ashore. IF they fill out there and grow above the CVE capacity level you will NOT be able to transfer them back on board.

There is no fragment of the group anywhere?

you do have accept replacements on? And you do have replacements available then disband in a port and they should begin to fill up

but if it chaanged to a theater command, the replacements will form there and TRY to get to the ship.

VR groups follow completely different program routines than other aircraft, that has been proven. The suspicion is that they are also incomplete routines. Park their ship in Pearl and wait.

From the original question, it sounds like the OP believes that any air group that gets reduced to zero planes/pilots must be withdrawn in order to receive replacements. Am I understanding that right? Because I was not under that impression. If the unit still exists on the map it should be able to draw replacements given support/supply/etc.

A group which is reduced to 0 planes should still get replacements.
I am sure (99.9%) that I have had the same situation with a VR group.
From memory, a replacement fragment of a few planes showed up in PH.

===========================================
Just tested it, by having a VR group (with replacements OFF) give all its plane/pilots to some CVs.
Waited a turn, and turned replacements back ON in the VR.

At end of turn, VR group had 54 damaged planes back in the group.

As far as i know you are right. As a carrier trained group shouldn't you be unable to disband them[&:]
