Been trying to shoot them down by setting mutliple groups at various altittudes yet these guys always get their photos and fly away. Flak isn't shooting at them apparently and CAPs never seem to get at them, even in well stocked, well supplied, highly operational airbases.

Fast fighters in large amounts, great xp pilots and radar help. Its still hard to shoot down recon planes at land bases, not so much in cvtfs.

Also vary altitudes and crater his runways as you will never stop them
totally but op losses help from landing in bomb holes.

No ideals - never bothered with Land based Recon planes as they are too fast usually ( being specialist types ). Carrier based recon planes are your usual Carrier planes so it should be easier. The big Sea-planes should be the easiest. If they really bug you then keeping their airfield out of action is the best idea, but might be a waste of your bombers if it dosn't keep other enemy aircraft out of action too. [;)]

Figure out his altitude and put CAP 3000 feet above it. You do this by setting traps where you have CAP at various altitudes. You start by looking at the altitude rating of the type of recon you are seeing and assuming it is either at max altitude, or AI set recon altitude. When you get an intercept, you know what to set all your traps at (assuming he does not change). If he does change - that is tactics - you can always go for many altitudes of CAP.
