JeeberD -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (2/28/2006 10:44:11 PM)

Super Bowl XXVII [:'(]

donkeydong12 -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (2/28/2006 10:44:44 PM)

1987 Grey Cup.

darthrider -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (2/28/2006 10:47:54 PM)

Absolutely nothing compares to the 1989 Grey Cup, no way no how!

JeeberD -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (2/28/2006 10:49:33 PM)

OK, I changed my mind. November 1, 1997. BYU at UTEP.

Word.

Steelers beating the Colts this years playoffs. I'm not a Steeler fan, but boy was that an exciting game.

Sure was. And I agree, the Ice Bowl was good too.

Not sure what year it was but the triple overtime game between Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs was exciting too.

KWhit -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (2/28/2006 11:23:05 PM)

The Atlantic Ocean Conference Championship game between the Conyers Condors and the North Plainfield Plague.

Sadly, the wrong team won.

Wasn't that the San Diego Chargers whom played in the OT game?

Christmas Eve, 1950.

EvNphlo -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (3/1/2006 12:00:41 AM)

Wow..there are a billion choices for sure. Some that come to mind are Super Bowl XXIII (49ers/Bengals), Super Bowl XXXVI (Pats/Rams), Super Bowl XXXIV (Rams/Titans) just to name a few. Recently, there was a great Sabercat/Rush game on last Sunday. [:D]

wheeljack12 -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (3/1/2006 12:19:09 AM)

1999 and 1986 Grey Cups. The 86 Ticat defense was the CFL's answer to the 85 bears. And the 99 cup was pure delight in finally seeing the Ticats be a more balanced team and not just a agressive defense with enough offense to win.

rroberson -> 1997 Rose Bowl (3/1/2006 12:23:26 AM)

Ohio State vs Arizona State

ASU scores with 90 seconds left to go up 17 to 13. Ohio State marches the length of the field (after sputtering the whole game) to score and go up 20 to 17. ASU gets the ball goes 50 yards but runs out of time to lose the national championship 20 to 17.

Magnum357 -> RE: 1997 Rose Bowl (3/1/2006 12:34:01 AM)

Was that Ohio State vs. Arizona St. game the one with Jake "The Snake" Plummer in it? If so, that was a good game. [:)]

yup the one in the same.

FreedomRock -> RE: 1997 Rose Bowl (3/1/2006 12:42:20 AM)

Super Bowl 38, Patriots vs. Panthers. I HATED the Panthers, so I was into this game like nothing else...except for the previous year when the Bucs won. Classic matchup, right team won.

Arena Bowl XVIII in 2003, when veteran backup Pat O'Hara replaced John Kaleo and erased a deficit for the Tampa Bay Storm to beat the Arizona Rattlers for their 5th AFL Championship. That was the best Arena Football game I've ever actually watched, especially with who won.

james17 -> RE: 1997 Rose Bowl (3/1/2006 1:23:34 AM)

The 1958 NFL Championship game (yes I'm showing my age).

I agree with the first part... [8D]

My real-life game vote probably goes to Super Bowl XXV. I still watch it on VHS from time-to-time, simply an unbelievable game.

Steelplayer -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (3/1/2006 3:58:09 AM)

Florida State and VA Tech for the National Title was one I will always remember. The FSU team of superstars VS Mick Vick and everyone else. Vick carried his team for a while, but just got too beat up in the 4th. Was a great game to watch. The other would have the be this years Steelers Colts playoff matchup like previously mentioned. I AM a Steeler's fan, and could not believe how the Steelers and Refs were trying to give the colts every chance to win... I about died 3 times... :)

You're not the only one.I wonder how many other teams can claim giving a fan a heart attack.

Maliki -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (3/1/2006 4:56:14 AM)

One game i wish i could have seen was a monday night game between the Packers and Bears.

I think it was in '95.I read about it in the next days paper.They played it in Chicago in near hurricane force winds and a driving rain.If my memory serves then there was almost no passing,and i think the two teams combined for 300+yards rushing as it was impossible to throw the ball under the conditions.A real oddity in modern football.

Anyone know which game i'm thinking of,and if so if there is anywhere to get it?

ixxxiiixiv -> RE: What was the best football game ever played? (3/1/2006 5:24:49 AM)

Well, even though I'm not a big college football fan, I'd have to say that Miami/Ohio State BCS game a few years ago (2002???) was probably the tightest, back-and-forth, edge-of-your-seat game I've ever witnessed.

For the pros (I don't see much CFL here in the States), I'd have to go with the 1992 AFC Wildcard Playoff game between the Houston Oilers and Buffalo Bills. Simply, the most amazing "blowout" to start a game---Houston was up 35-3---then, the most amazing comeback in football history, a 41-38 overtime win for the Bills. I've often thought as those Buffalo teams to be the greatest team to never win a Super Bowl. I'm a Steeler fan, but am afraid any of those teams may have destroyed my Super Bowl XL champs.

Christmas Eve, 1950.

I'll elaborate: Hall of Famer Lou Groza (in what has been called his greatest moment) kicks a Field Goal in the last seconds as the Cleveland Browns, in their first year in the league, defeat the Los Angeles Rams 30-28 in the NFL championship game.

Otto Graham completed 22 of 32 passes for 298 yds and 4 TDs for the Browns while Bob Waterfield was 18 of 31 for 312 yds, one TD but had 4 intercepted for the Rams.
