nmleague -> Wow major problem (3/5/2006 4:37:00 AM)

This could be major. I created a league, simmed the first 3 weeks games, no problem except the stats werent show cummulative totals.

I then created another league, but havent simmed any league games yet.

I just went back to the first league to sim some more games. The schedule is up to week 4, however when I check the standings it show that no teams have play any games. Also all the stats are gone, not even showing the last weeks stats.

Does this mean that you can only create and play one league at a time?

How can games and stats disappear?

Update, I found that stats were still there, but not if the season box was checked, now under history.

I simmed a new week, now the stats are showing for the last game with the season box checked, no stats show if the history box is check.

After the game the standing now show the result of the last game, teams have one win or loss instead of a total of 4 games.

Another thing, I simmed 5 of the 6 games, the other one I had the computer play vs the computer. In the simmed games again there were no runs over 5 yards, the longest pass about 21. In the game played by the computers there was at least one pass complete for about 60 yards and numerous runs over 10 yards. The total rushing or passing yards were still realistic, yet the individual play results were also more realistic that the simmed results.

The first problem's been commented on and is a 'known issue' by Matrix.. They promise to fix it. The second... Well, it's what I feared when David said he would be switching to a different engine for simming than the one when games are played out. Initially he'd had a graphics free version of the same engine as runs a game, but said it took too long to sim. Personally I'd rather have that as an option if the simmed stats are going to show major differences (even individual areas while overall stats look ok).

I absolutely agree with you here. I was very excited initially when I found out that the "sim" engine would essentially use the "in-game" engine - that would mean EVERYTHING would be on par and comparable between "simmed" games and "played-out" games. Your team's player stats would then be fairly and accurately comparable to the rest of the league...

I sure was dissappointed when I heard that he removed this option in favour of the "quick" sim option. I really really really hope that he will re-introduce the original as an optional sim type in the future - it would make the stats far more meaningful in the end. I am sure willing to have the games take longer to sim then they do now if it mean accurate and meaningful stat comparisons, and I'm guessing that many of you would feel the same way too. (EDIT: just added this to the wishlist forum).

I do agree aswell. I can understand why David might have changed the SIM engine (if he did to begin with) but I have no problem waiting for SIM games to play out even if they took a while longer.

Hey guys, couldn't you still sim the games by just watching them? Ya, that would take even longer to play, but isn't it still possible to do that? I haven't messed with League stuff much yet so I don't know.

gambler -> RE: Wow major problem (3/5/2006 8:24:07 AM)

Yes, you can 'sim' all games by watching them. In most cases I'd just let the game run rather than watch if possible, but that'd be SLOW. I can't seem to 'Alt-Tab' between a running game and other applications without getting the Black Screen of Nothing unfortunately.

David Winter -> RE: Wow major problem (3/5/2006 11:04:32 AM)

I originally had the sim engine running the 3D game invisibly. But the games were increadibly slow to play out and getting the same results was just as difficult as the system I have now. By speeding up the clock as it were, the physics engine just simply failed. And the physics engine is what determines a lot of things in the 3D game play.

I may go back and look at some additional simulation system that is a bit of a hybrid between the two I have now, but that's unlikely to be something that is going to make it into this edition.
