What refresh rates are commonly used, I discovered recently my system was running at 60 Hz, and I can go far higher aparently, is this wise to go higher?

I run mine at 85hz but you can also set it on "optimum" and let the CRT do its own thing.

I just setup a prodjector, and I am uncertain as to what is a good number for it is, I cant seam to find one listed anywhear in the litature for it.

CRT = minimum should be 85hz, you need to test what is comfortable for you with the higher hz rates
Anything below 60hz is killing your eyes and is a cause for headaches or eyestrain. Some older monitors probably do not support hz rates above 75hz, time to upgrade then.

LCD/TFT = normally the are fixed at 60hz and can not be altered anyway

It probably is running at a fixed hz rate
