Skycast -> Completing a pass (3/7/2006 8:07:10 PM)

Has anyone actually been able to complete a pass yet? I've played roughly 15 - 20 minutes combined in the stock Max US outdoor and Max Indoor league and haven't seen a completed pass yet. I can't get past playing about 5+ minutes a game because it gets very frustrating. I've tried quick play and league play.

Someone please tell me my experience is simply an oddball.

i was in quick play first quarter with cleveland and I was well over 50 percent, but the computer wasn't doing well at all

When you play a game, hit the F11 key to check your FPS. If your machine isn't getting 25 FPS or above during the play, the passing game will be affected as it affects the geometry of the game.

My FPS hovers between 30 and 35 most of the time. I've now been able to complete a pass, but it's still a bit wonky.

It has to do with the way the defensive plays were created - I'm guessing you've been sacked a ton of times?

This will be addressed once some of the PDS experts crank out some plays.

I've had no problems getting pass completions. What plays are you using?

Hey Erik, did you ever look at those plays I sent you a couple of days ago? I can get Passes completed, but it seems when I play the same play over and over again in the PDS, after a while the QB starts to totally miss the intended receiver. Again, this is in just a "Dry Run" with no Defensive Opposition in the PDS's Practice Mode. Now if I exit the Practice and then relaunch Practice Mode again, the QB will again be alright completing a few Plays, but will again fall back to the point of being totally off Target on Passes to the Intended Receiver. It almost feels like some sort of Memory problem or something, or possibly some Varibles or Formulas in the Games engine get reset if you exit out of the PDS and then Relaunch.

And just to let you know, almost all my Tests have either been using the US Rules Model or the Indoor Football Model of the PDS. And I never use a Joystick to play MaxFB with. Coach Mode only.

P.S. Just recently, I made a simple utility that allows you too Open up the "MainData.mdb" file and edit the Gameplay settings for the game. After doing this, I can get the QB to complete more passes in the PDS system, but again, sooner or later he falls back into the same problem of missing the Receivers again with Wild Incomplete Passes.

okay just played a 7 minute quarter quick play game on college level, after I made a few of my own plays. I was 13/18 in the game. My opponet was 8/19 (getting close to 50% for cpu). As you get more advanced and making plays and finding plays that work, natural you will see completion percent rise. The problem being the computer Completion percent in the future, but this can be fixed if someone (or making yourself) a solid playbook for the computer. The key will be to eliminate the poor plays in the game, the more decent plays that are made will give a chance to replace with a solid play.

In my game I just played I was basically trying to used the plays I had made to see how they work. Man it is awesome to see something I created work, a couple of my plays when for big touchdowns. I even had the computer call a couple of my plays against me and they got good yardage on my team.

During our play balancing we tried to get the "pro level" QB's at about 60%.. obviously you're not going to be spot on that all the time but that's what we were aiming for.

Various Defensive packages will impact this percentage as well.

Skycast -> RE: Completing a pass (3/8/2006 6:54:42 PM)

Yup, I've been getting sack very frequently as well and I'd say I'm 20% - 30% passing percentage. Heck, the running game in an indoor game kicks the snot out of the passing game...go figure with that.

Right now I'm pretty frustrated with this game and am hoping that this stuff gets addressed promptly.

Skycast,

Did you try grabbing the additional Indoor playbook files from the Members' Club? Passing also depends on the stats of QB and Receivers, have you tried different teams?

- Erik

I haven't grabbed those yet, but I will. I have tried different teams, different leagues and different rules with pretty much the same results. Guess I need to belly up to the bar, create a league to run and make some plays. Just need to hunker down and figure out the PDS I guess.
