Deft -> New 11 man playbook (3/19/2006 10:32:31 PM)

I have created a new playbook with 30 plays. Its from a formation I call the Ladder. (Well it is customizable so why use an old standby?)

Formation
2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FB, 1 HB
The WRs are on the ends and the TE lineups on the HB side

The FB and HB lineup staggered on each side of the shotgun QB.

The formation allows direct snaps to HB, FB, and QB. Play action is almost always used like the offense Oklahoma employs. Several plays are designed for the FB and HB to cross in front of the QB giving a triple option threat of FB left, HB right, and QB pass. Though the pitch to QB doesn't work now it will work nicely with this formation. There are 15 pass and 15 run plays. I tried to avoid using the TE as the primary receiver because of known AI issues. It has 2 screen plays in it which are pretty fun to run. Good luck and I look forward to feedback. The defenses are very generic so I will improve on them as time goes by. It will be available at FBMax.com.

Updated the playbook for better timing. There are two iso plays I especially like. l_r_iso1 and l_r_iso2 both result in the guard and FB reaching the LB level and can blow big run plays up the middle (the Holy Grail we've been waiting for in a real time football sim). I have also optimized several of the pass blocking schemes to pick up blitzers and stunts.

I am going to check out those screen plays, still having trouble making my own.

Update-
Added the playbook to the download so the defense will play mostly Nickle in long yardage defense and GL at the goal line. I have added some more plays, a few more pass plays and a draw.

Some comments-
Some of the plays I like best are the hitch play where R1 will sit right down in a hole of a zone and the quick slant that usually beats the OLB to get there in time. Fixed the screen passes by changing to a wait command instead of stand (which is pretty useless in my mind because it leaves the players in the mud).

Passing is increasingly difficult because the defense tends to ignore 3rd receivers, RBs (sometimes), FBs, and TEs (mostly because of the line up and M2M issues as have already been identified). So its easy pickings to make pass plays for these players but throwing to your two prime receivers can be difficult because they get doubled and triple teamed.

Deft - I will try these later today and provide some feedback.

Quick question, have you done any toying with the Offense & Defense profiles?

I have a little, but felt confused and also feel more options need to be added to further fine tune a situation to make a realistic and challenging profile/cpu opponent.

Thx

Yes, as I mentioned before only the most rudimentary offense and defense profiles.

Shaggy, have you updated the playbook on FBMax?

The playbook and all plays are now uploaded to FBMax.com. Just unzip to your Matrix folder with subfolder option checked.
