Oh don't be silly![sm=crazy.gif] No monstrous, cataclysmic explosion will have any effect on the ANTI-THREAD. The Anti-Thread will live for 10,000 years.

Now, because of your action with the threads most of humanity could be vaporized any second now but that is another story. Maybe you should call the Ghost Busters since they have experience with crossing beams, threads and the like?

Long live the Anti-Thread[&o][&o][&o]

Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!! What have I done????!!!!! I have crossed The Thread and The anti-Thread. A monstrous, cataclysmic explosion will shortly follow destroying much of the world.

Care to explain that? C'mon, you cant just make a statement like that and walk off. I went and put my lucky, anti-vaporization boxer shorts on, but nothings happening.

Is there any chance we can pick the parts to be destroyed?

"I don't know where we went wrong,
But the feeling's gone,
And I just can't get it back." - G. Lightfoot

Old Gordon doesn't get played at many parties. Real downer. [:(]

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald isn't likley to get people up ton the dance floor.

Hmmm...let's try the picture thingie again...

[image]local://upfiles/6977/C7F4703099DB4815AD14282D60FB9514.jpg[/image]
I remember back in the '80s, Lightfoot and another young fella whose career was pretty much over, Kris Kristofferson, did a nostalgia tour. I had a seat close to the stage (it wasn't exactly a sellout crowd), and the two of 'em were creaking and croaking along at some song or other, when, all of a sudden, ole Gord leans back away from the microphone and says, "Aw, sh1t, Kris, I'm really drunk!"

Ah, yes, another moment to treasure...

RUPD3658 -> RE: The Anti-thread (7/24/2006 8:58:41 PM)

If he toured with Gilbert O'Sullivan (another happy Canadian) there would be a mass suicide due to depression at the end of the show.

Mark VII -> RE: The Anti-thread (7/24/2006 11:19:54 PM)

Well I consider a "monstrous, cataclysmic explosion" and "vaporized" in the same "disaster catagory", sorta the same end result. And you yourself admitted that you had crossed the threads and that there was a possibility of a "monstrous, cataclysmic explosion" because of said crossing. "Vaporized" just takes less time to type so I used it instead of "monstrous, cataclysmic explosion".

Which boxer shorts did you put on when you are expecting the "monstrous, cataclysmic explosion" earlier today?[:D] Are these different shorts than a possible mass vaporization event?

Maybe it wasn't a true "crossing of the threads" as I havn't noticed any cataclysmic events either. Except maybe in New York where they are eating there own as the Yankee fans have gone bonzo on ARod. You never boo you own guys, at least not untill the season is a total bust and there is no chance of making the post season.

You are clearly not from Philadelphia. Opening day goes like this:

1. National Anthem
2. Introduction of the team
3. 1st pitch
4. "You suck!" yelled by Phillies fan. [:D]

Then again this is OK by your rules because as of the 1st pitch of the season the Phillies are a total bust and there is no chance of making the post season.[:(]

Ah, there is always next year.

Now, see, when you put these things in the context of boxer shorts, the difference between them becomes evident.

The "monstrous, cataclysmic explosion" is what you generally get from Mexican food con frijoles. "Mass vaporization" follows a night of beer drinking.

When you eat Mexican food and drink beer all night, the result is similar to what is predicted if the earth is ever hit by a "planet killer" asteroid (I am refraining from breaking that last word up into its two component elements with comic potential - "ass" and "roid" - because I wouldn't want anyone to think I only indulge in bathroom humor).

Sphincter says what?

Theres quite a bit of difference, Mark. "Monstrous, cataclysmic explosions" are an all-destroying, event that science has not been able to study largely because no one has yet to survive it. Meanwhile, simple "vaporisation" is a well known event of much smaller destructive magnitude. It has been studied and analized so well that "anti-vaporization boxer shorts" have been designed, produced and are now widely availible to those with the right connections. These shorts usually come in a kit with a pretty fashionable aluminum foil hat. The only trouble is, because I never read the owners manual, I just dont know if the shorts protect the entire wearer, or only the parts covered by the shorts. [;)]

BTW...not a baseball fan. However, my boss is a rabbid Red Sox fan. I keep toying with the idea of asking her if its hard to live here with that kind of self-destructive attitude.

And then theres most Chinese food, which causes an event which is known scientifically as "explosive decompression". Not sure how that works with beer.

Most importantly, is there a FRONT and a BACK to those shorts and did you have them on correctly?[X(]

Thing is, with Chinese food, after you explosively decompress, you want to do it again an hour later.

Beer and Chinese food??? Weren't you satisfied with just crossing the threads? Chairman Mao tried this combination one time. It led to his first "Great Leap Forward."

Once, a German and a Pole (now, before anybody gets all whipped up here, I am entitled, because I am part Polish) had applied for U.S. citizenship and were waiting to take the oral exam.

The Pole was really worried, and said to his German friend, "I just don't think I'll be able to pass. I'm very bad at tests."

The German replied, "Don't worry. I take the test this afternoon, and you don't take it until tomorrow, so I can give you the answers."

After the German returned from the exam, he went to his friend and told him, "Don't worry. It's very easy. There are only three questions: How many stars are on the U.S. flag, who was the first President of the United States, and what are the colors of the U.S. flag."

The Pole was still worried, however. "Thank you, but I still don't think I will be able to pass. My memory is just no good for these things. I am sure I will get nervous and forget all the answers."

The German thought for a minute, then smiled and said, "I know! I will write the answers on a small piece of paper and pin them to the inside of the waist band of your boxer shorts. Then, when you take the test, all you have to do is slip your thumbs into the waistband, look down like you are thinking about the answers, and read them off the paper!"

"Oh, thank you, my friend," said the Pole. "I think that might work."

Next day, the Pole went to the examination office, and soon found himself standing in front of the testing officer, who said, "Now, sir, in order to qualify for U.S. citizenship, you must pass an oral examination consisting of three questions. Are you ready?"

The Pole slipped his thumbs into the waistband of his pants, took a deep breath, and said, "Yes, sir, I am ready."

"Good," said the testing officer. "First, how many stars are on the American flag?"

The Pole hesitated, looked down inside his waistband, and answered, "36."

"Who was the first President of the United States?"

"J.C. Penney."

"What are the colors of the American flag?"

"Brown and white."
