Cardinal Fang -> A couple of issues (7/12/2000 4:33:00 AM)

Hello folks,
I have a couple of issues(hence the name of this post). My apologies if they've been covered before, a quick search didn't come up with anything.
The first question is in regard to an odd thing I just had happen in a PBEM game I'm involved in. My Sherman Jumbo was in the unenviable postion of having a King Tiger in front of him and a Panther and two Pumas on his flank. I started trying to move him away when oppurtunity fire from the King Tiger convinced me that it would be wise to try to ruin his view, I thought I'd take my chances with the other units, I hit the X button and chose a hex in front of the King Tiger. Instead of firing a smike round the Sherman just spun it's turret that way and then the King Tiger and the Panther opportunity fired at it resulting in the Sherman being immobilized! Isn't using the X key the way you fire smoke? If so why didn't the Sherman fire and even if I did it wrong why did the Sherman receive opportunity fire if he hadn't actually done anything? and yes, I had smoke ammo. :-)
The other issue involves opportunity fire. I know that the Germans had great optics but c'mon! I'm seeing opportunity fire chances against my untis in the 50-70% range! That's even if the turret has to traverse to fire on the unit. It makes attacking, even from the flank, an almost suicidal act. Granted to hit numbers that high don't always occur but I'm puzzled that they occur at all. They seem higher than when he's firing direct on me. Are the (generally) slower turret traverse rates for the German tanks factored in at all?
I do enjoy SPW@W very much and I'm having a blast playing it by email but these things are bugging me a bit.
One more thing, and this might be an actual bug, I'm playing a campaign were I'm doing an amphibious assault against Vichy French troops. I've noticed that if I move a landing craft its entire movement allowance (all the hilighted hexes are gone) and then fire it's weapons then I can once more move the landing craft. It's as if firing the weapons resets it's movement points. Has anyone else seen this or is it just my troops getting a little adrenal rush from combat. :-)
Thanks for listening to my ramblings,
Cardinal Fang
