zuikaku -> WITP2: When if ever? (4/12/2006 12:54:11 PM)

I see that lots of people here are being excited with WITP2. So, I have a few questions. Have the work on the WITP2 even been approved? When will it start (if ever). And when it is expected to finish? Also, it would be nice if it will be relativelly bug free before bein released ,so that will be no need for such "patch fest". It's a good thing when developers are willing to fix bugs and introduce improvements, but all those patching and having different people prefering different game versions is a bit chaotic (especially if looking for PBEM). There's not going to be a WitP2 for the foreseeable future, and it's just as well. This whole discussion was started because of a remark that was posted when the development team for WitP patch 1.8 was expanded by Don Bowen and JWilkerson some time back. They mentioned that after 1.8 there might be an enhancement pack for WitPor might be a possibility of beginning to think about WitP2. If it happens, it's far into the uncertain future.

Then i think that things on this forum are going a bit out of control[:'(] Many people hawe the feeling that it will hit the market in a few months time. WITP is good game, but there is also a lot of space for improvements, but generally speaking none of them are going to improve gameplay drastically

Things are definitely going out of control. The forum practically exploded when that post was made...[8|]

rockmedic109 -> RE: WITP2: When if ever? (4/12/2006 2:24:09 PM)

Yeah, quite out of control. Hopefully enough that Matrix decides there is a market for WITP II.

But my hopes are like most of the posts on WITP II....dreams.

I take a more short-term view: let's have a functioning 1.8... please... pretty please...

There can be even 1.9 and 150 more patches, and even then somebody won't be satisfied. The purpose of the patches should be focused on removing bugs ,not in balancing and rebalancing combat system like was done in some of the previous patches. You first tone down one thing, messing the other thing, by that causin one fanboys whining, than you tone down something in their favour, and thats happening from one patch to another. For heavens, it's only a game, and it couldn't be 100% accurate. Stop listening for fanboy whining that much. Allied or Japanese ones. [;)]

Nikademus -> RE: WITP2: When if ever? (4/12/2006 4:43:50 PM)

1.8 is primarily above all else....a bug patch.

There are a couple of game enhancements, the big one being the printing of assault values seen in the combat animation to the combat report so that players don't have to sit through the bigger land battles for 15+ minutes at a time.

So long as it's not a buggy patch...

Nikademus -> RE: WITP2: When if ever? (4/12/2006 4:59:04 PM)

The reason why your still tapping your toe in annoyance waiting for the patch is because we are doing everything we can to ensure it works properly within an elastic but ultimately restrictive time frame.

I know, I know... I'm not so much tapping my foot as pulling your leg. Do it right first, fast second.

Nikademus -> RE: WITP2: When if ever? (4/12/2006 5:14:29 PM)

stop pulling my distal knee away from the direction of my parietal peritoneum

Mike Scholl -> RE: WITP2: When if ever? (4/12/2006 5:58:01 PM)

I think the most rational explanation would be that the new team will have to see how much "improvement" the original WITP engine can handle before committing themselves to a WITP II. And I doubt that finishing one patch will put them in a position to say yea or ney. Give them some time....

Terminus -> RE: WITP2: When if ever? (4/12/2006 6:00:48 PM)

Yeah... WitPII would probably be best served with a brand new engine. The current one is decidedly wobbly...

"Probably"? *snickers, suppresses laughter as he quickly walks away with both hands over his mouth* [:D]

Yeah... It was all I could do to type it without collapsing in laughter...

You have at minimum staked an almost unassailable claim to the Understatement of the Year trophy. [:D]

Thank You... Now I have to go practice my acceptance speech.
