Not wanting to screw my game up, is there any reason that I can't just apply the v1.8 patch to my CHS v1.06 game?

To answer my own question... apparently not. I just applied the patch to my CHS installation and it is still using the pwhex.dat file from that installation. Looking at my latest save appears to show no problems under v1.8.
