DeepSix -> Insubordination: TF assigned to patrol still retires (4/27/2006 1:08:08 AM)

I don't recall this happening before 1.80, but since installing that patch I've noticed that some TFs will retire even if I tell them to patrol. For instance, I sent a "transport" convoy from Anchorage to Dutch Harbor. I want them to ferry an RCT to D.H., unload it, then wait there because I'm going to send them to Nome next to pick up the RCT there. They load ok, ship to D.H. ok, but instead of staying there, they start heading back to Anchorage. Have noticed this several other times as well, but I have a save of this situation. The save has the TF at Dutch Harbor unloading; after this combat phase, though, I believe it will start heading back to Anchorage. At least, that's what it's been doing to me (I've run the game from that save point three times now with the same result each time).

But I don't want to fire off a complaint if the error is mine; have I forgotten something? Thanks.

This was brought up shortly after the game was released. We were told that by design all transport TFs will automatically switch to "Retirement Allowed" as soon as they unload. The only way to get them to stay after unloading is to set the destination to be the TF's home port.

Well, I guess that's not too hard to live with. Just have to change the home port when I give orders. Thanks![:)]
