I am in the process of editing an old scenario.

NEED HELP:

Who can tell me how to give a unit the RECON ability if it doesn't have it already in the original scenario. There are scouts and AC's that should be recon units that are not. I have not been able to figure this out.

This matters a lot since C&C will be ON.

Thanks in advance. [&o]

Long time since I did this, but I believe the editor allows a title of "recon" as a function, (like light infantry, squad mortar,etc..)
The size of the unit can be set to "0" to replicate stealth movement.
Some players don't like giving units that size of "0" to units of more than 3 or 5 troops, but IMHO it is accurate, nearly regardless of size as an I&R would be moving from cover to cover, singly, not as a bunch.
If nothing else, go to your editor and see what your current recon units are listed as?????

I just checked....In the editor, these infantry recon units are listed as "Scouts"....

Bad news is: you can't, not without changing the OOB it's in. Recon Ability is a "flag" set in the Formation Editor of the OOB Editor. That's it, nothing else. Units Size will make them harder to spot, but won't give them the added "recon" ability that allows them to move outside their Objective Radius when C&C is On.

I never play with C&C on..While a nice concept, it became less relevant in the days after trench warfare, when it was realized Jr NCO's sometimes had to take the initiative to move squads on their own....................

Thanks Bob and Flash.

Not what I hoped for, but an answer nonetheless.

I thought of a workaround with some other questions and posted in my similar Depot thread, Flash.

Thanks again.
