PackerMan32 -> Utilites Needed... (5/6/2006 9:31:54 AM)

I just purchased this game. It's looking pretty good so far. Anyway, I'm pretty proficient in VB and I was wondering what sort of utilities people think this game needs in order to make it better?

Hopefully a patch will address it soon, but if not, SCHEDULING!!!!!

I would luv to see utilities in a format that all people can use. I dont have office, so anything access doesnt seem to work for me.

Same here. I hope one day the game will be more accessible to average users.

Shaggyra's utility lets you make the schedule and I think if you install the runtime files it will let you use it without access. I'm not completely sure tho.

Magnum357 -> RE: Utilites Needed... (5/7/2006 1:49:53 AM)

I had to put my Schedule utility on the back burner. Came down with a sinise infection that lasted all week. [:(] I know I keep talking about this utility I'm making but never release it, but I will get back too working on it. The good thing about my utility is that its fairly simple and straight forward to use, and all you need to run it with is the VB6 Runtime files that will be included with it. This helps for people that don't have the the latest version of Access or some other Database applicatioin. I try to design all my utilities like this because I don't see the logic of making a utility that requires you too have another utility/program to make it run.

PackerMan32 -> RE: Utilites Needed... (5/7/2006 3:30:50 AM)

Just finished a utility to print rosters to either a text file, pritner, or html. I'll probably do the same for standings also.

I can work on scheduling and team vs. team stats too. I will most likely release all these things a Utility Suite type package where you can easily run all these things on any league you want. Once these are finished you can run them as is, no need to have office or any other software installed your compter (except for Maximum Football of course.)

I'll probably work on a salary suite of utilities also once I finish these things. I now one of the things I enjoy most about football sims like this are GM aspects and managing your players salaries and such.

PackerMan32
Thanks from all of us who cant program anything.

I know a schedule editing utility is very desirable.
Also, for stat freaks like me, the ability to be able to print out a weekly league report would be awesome.
Standings
Schedule
Individual Stat Leaders

I like to track, from week to week, who are the top rushers/WRs/Passers/ and so on. Watching league leaders thru the season is fun. I like to see, after week 5, who is the league leading rusher...all categories really. When I see my team is about to face a guy who is on track for a 1000yd season...its fun.
Not that you cant do this in game, I think an outside utility just gives more flexibility.

What i did for the VCFL was make a seperate database.Each team was cut and pasted into their own section 19 in all. 18 teams and one for freeagents.I went in and made 19 reports.Once one was made it was a matter of cutting and pasting the other 18 reports.I even have it add up all the salaries.Imports get a 1 value in r20 and that adds up to give the total.The salary cap was set at $3.8 million and it suptracts to give the cap room.

I said this before and I'll say it again [8D]

It would be cool to have a schedule maker that just lets you pick which division to play for interconference play and just let it generate the rest but making sure you play your own division teams twice Home and away and making sure that home and away games are equal.

I would probably have a hard time figuring all that stuff out for each single team with a schedule maker

PackerMan32 -> RE: Utilites Needed... (5/8/2006 2:25:13 AM)

Here is a very rough version of the roster utility I mentioned above. At the moment it you can use it to do the following things:

Print Rosters Directly To Printer
Print Rosters To Text File
Print Rosters To HTML File

The HTML output is not pretty, but does the job. I'd like to customize the HTML output so you can make the layout similar to your league website if you are using this for an online league. But before I do this, I'd like to iron out some the kinks in the program, so if you find any let me know. Also, let me know of any improvements that could be made to make it better (for the rosters). Once this is good and done I'll move on to the next utility.

The download link contains a setup file, which is the easiest way for me to distribute to everyone and have it work for those that don't have the required files. Please forgive me if this is against the rules, I couldn't find anything that was against it.

good enough for me [image]http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/micons/m6.gif[/image]

thanks [8D]

Stefanos -> RE: Utilites Needed... (5/27/2006 3:24:58 AM)

I'd love to see a draft editor. Having every team with the same draft list makes that first draft really predictable.

rollntider -> RE: Utilites Needed... (6/4/2006 11:47:51 PM)

How about a salary cap utility?

MSO94 -> RE: Utilites Needed... (6/21/2006 9:46:24 PM)

I would love a program for a better
trade option.retirements. Salary cap and salary.
Better game reports

Im the same i would love to track week by week stats
