Sarge, can you send me teh whole list of Bob's RAF pilots please? I have the real life list, as i linked it up there, and if yours isn't complete, i think that i can do something.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Update info (7/30/2006 2:01:34 PM)

sent

otisabuser2 -> RE: Update info (8/3/2006 9:43:59 PM)

Hi Jan,

I was already looking at the BoB RAF pilots. This took so long that I only got as far as A to H until other things took over and took precedence.

It's a very unrewarding task because about 80 - 90 % of the ones in game are already OK. That said there are some major RAF aces missing.

HARDest part was working out which unit a guy should be in. Some rookies were bounced around several units in as many days before they ended up somewhere permanent.

ClaudeJ -> RE: Update info (8/4/2006 4:50:58 AM)

Hi Otis,
i found about 584 missing pilots, then after checking manualy if there's not another, i'll have to select a squadron for those who have moved from squadrons to squadrons.
Finally i'll suggest a list of missing pilots with rank, nationality, names and squadron to Ron, so it will be up to him to add them or not.

otisabuser2 -> RE: Update info (8/4/2006 12:47:29 PM)

Hi Jan,

584 is a lot more than I thought. [X(]

The guys can also add in a delay period for later arriving pilots. This may be where there mass of yours are from. This means the computer-gen pilots can be almost eliminated.

Keep up the good work. [:)]

ClaudeJ -> RE: Update info (8/4/2006 10:40:08 PM)

Otis,
if you want to take a look at my source, i uploaded it here:
http://amb3940.be/bob_pilots_all.htm
Thx for your interest
Jan

otisabuser2 -> RE: Update info (8/5/2006 9:22:58 AM)

Hi Jan,

that link takes me to a Microsoft site. Can't see the list. Am I missing something ?

His link took me to the right place (an Excel spreadsheet of pilots), so the link is good.

ClaudeJ -> RE: Update info (8/5/2006 4:34:50 PM)

I guess that you don't have Excel or not the one needed. I made it using Office 2003 but anyway some free clone ala OpenOffice should work too

coolness.

I'm not going to give it all away, mostly because it's too hard to explain in detail, and partly because it's still a work-in-progress.

By far the biggest change is the screen res has been increased to 1024*768, so whilst we still haven't got an adjustable screen size, we do have more real-estate to use.

The next most notable aspect is the dorky borders are gone. The map starts at the screen edge on the left, and right under the top bar at the top.

Tied in with that, is the right-hand control panel is now gone also - so the map stretches from the left to right panels. When plotting allied missions you can see from Land's End all the way to Poland in the one screen. I think we've over doubled the visible east-west map, and made a modest improvement to north-south.

Basically, I looked at the Uncommon Valour and War Plan Orange screen shots, and realised I liked the layouts, so I kept them in mind while designing the new ED/BTR layouts. Things aren't the same, but they are reminscent of these other games. It's really made a huge difference to mission planning and axis reaction.

There's more, but I just wanted to whet your appetite first, and remind you that we are head down, a*** up...

thats my censoring... [:)]

If this keeps up, I'm going to go bust buying all the games I already own!! Harpoon, BTR, the new UV game, etc

But seriously guys, you are doing a fantastic job improving what are already classics out of sight. (And we all appear to have similar interests...)

Great work guys, keep 'em coming as I'm really looking forward to this one...

Hard Sarge -> RE: Update info (9/14/2006 11:08:26 PM)

Well this has some of the info on the new stuff added to the game and or fixed from before

as you can see, there still areas I am weak on, anybody got any better info on the SAAF ? for some of the other Allies, remember, that game sees the nationality based on the Unit it is in, so a Pole in a GB Squadron is seen as a GB pilot

Hard Sarge -> RE: Update info (10/14/2007 12:40:37 PM)

and I had major troubles with the It, the unit set up, is very HARD to follow, when compared to info found in the books or web, so most of the It pilots added were to the later units, and not to the starting units

17poundr -> RE: Update info (10/14/2007 6:27:01 PM)

Ahem... Is there a new improved game to be purchased now?

Or, is it still 'in the works', and will come out soon, and hopefully as a matrix forums member I'll be informed about it???

I truly wish to buy this game!!!

I got the Airwar over Vietnam game, and truthfully, I was a bit dissapointed... I get the 'idea', but for some reason, the lack of graphics, and just the feeling of just computations, with minimal representation of their results came through... adding a bit of sounds doesnt improve that...

But, I must play more, I guess that once I start to figure out my stricke packets, and start to understand the statements that come (in the first tutorial, I lost five planes, but didnt even know it until it was over, I did cream about eleven mig-21s though)...

But, I gather that the European ww2 air war game to come will not be so 'in the now', and will have lot's of planning which things to hit, and does hopefully have both USAAF daylight and RAF night bombing going on???

Awaiting with cash in me hand...

Mr Poundr... [:)]

17poundr -> RE: Update info (10/14/2007 6:29:35 PM)

DEAR SIR THE WAIT WEARS OUT.................[:(]

PlacidDragon -> RE: Update info (10/16/2007 9:52:03 AM)

Im sure they are working as fast as they can :) (yes, i also want it "yesterday", but all the nagging in the world isnt going to get it here any faster). Well, i'd think, hehe.

With Hard Sarge being a military man (if i interpret the nick correctly), a solid kick from "upstairs" might well be a factor of great motivation [:D]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Update info (10/16/2007 3:45:17 PM)

Well, as a Military Man (ex type) and as a Sgt as the nick implies

I am the one used to doing all of the kicking

but so saying, you can only kick a dieing dog so many times before it is dead, and then what good is it any more ?

I know my guys are working, I know I am working, I spent 10 hours yesterday going over Polish and Czech pilots for BoB41 (ahh, the best part is, with my spelling skills, most people will never know if I made a mistake in spelling or not :)

and other people behind the door, you don't know about, have been working

more then that, I can't really say

PlacidDragon -> RE: Update info (10/16/2007 5:20:36 PM)

No need to say any more than that, we know its being worked on, and we'll get it in due time :)

Not that this is a dieing dog....

Ron isn't in his happy place at the moment. We should all send him some positive vibes...

jcjordan -> RE: Update info (10/17/2007 1:22:57 AM)

I remember an old wine commercial from the 70 & 80's - "we shall sell no wine before it's time". I know what HS & the others are going through as the data is the hardest thing to go through - I found that out in working on the CHS leaders - worked on it for 3 years & never finished it all & gave it over to Andrew & El Cid (RHS) to do with it what they may due to some health issues at the time.

bigmilt -> RE: Update info (10/17/2007 1:33:37 AM)

Hard Sarge:

You said you spent 10 hours on polish names - don't forget the Gregory Peck line in 12 o'clock high - those are his boys and he's more worried about them
than missions. As the overall commander all my usa pilots could be named smith - I am worried about available aircraft. The big picture is playabliity the historical detail can be filled in later.

sauro brusch -> RE: Update info (10/17/2007 1:56:25 PM)

I understand that the game is developed part-time, but and' true also thet and' three years that i wait for the game ( coming soon).

How client of Matrix i am not happy, everythngs for attends him, second for the mystery that winds the everything...In my job i must give certain answers to my clients and not vague news or answered offensive as me and happened to receive in the forum when i asked news on the presumed date of exit of the game

I don't want to be opening closests or bringing out dirty launry and other stuff like that, that is in the background, and is not and should not be out in the open, but got to say, it is not 3 years that the anousements were made about the game, and it is not 2 years that we have been working on it, as I said, I am not going to go into details on the background of the game or the background of how the game is/was coming togeather

I do not follow, I answer almost every question when I can, I think you will find that I answer more questions then almost anybody in my postion

I do not give vague answers or news, if I know the answer I tell what I know, if I don't know, I do try and say that I do not know

and I have never given out any type of date for when I expect the game to be released, I have said, that once David gives me the go ahead on saying something, I will be the first to start giving out ideas on the time/date

(now a statement like the 12th of Never, is not meant as a off reply, anyone who knows me or reads my posts, know what I am saying)

Hassle is, there are more reasons then just having planes to fly the missions, you burn though all of the pliots I give you, you are going to have trouble getting the mission done, now to each there own and what not, and if you don't want to mirco manage or even look at the pliot lists, that is fine, but you are still going to want to keep your real pilots alive, you don't, shame on you :)

Fallschirmjager -> RE: Update info (10/18/2007 3:10:11 AM)

With all these pilots being added to the game, are the pilots that us in the forum created going to make it into the game?

Hard Sarge -> RE: Update info (10/18/2007 4:26:11 AM)

yeap

they are there, all of them are starting pilots

bigmilt -> RE: Update info (10/18/2007 7:23:50 PM)

Hard Sarge:

What I mean as Air force commander / head staff officer(planning) you have to
monitor group moral and fatigue - the individual pilots are the concern of the squadron and group commanders. If a group is low on moral or high in fatigue they need a breather - deal them a 3 pass. If the moral is low due to horrific losses - then you have to build the confidence back with a few milk runs. That
is what I meant about not needing the know the individual pilots.
