Hi all,

BTW, seeing all those late war dates regarding Japanese radar makes you wonder (luckily for humanity!) about non existent cooperation between Germany and Japan!

Imagine German "See Takt" radars on Japanese ships (remember those radars were operational in late 1938/1939!) or
"Freya" and "Wurtzburg" ground based air control radars... [:D]

You'd think they would install them on the Shokaku and Zuikaku before the Yamatos. I guess they can vector what direction the bombs will bounce off.

Welcome aboard.

Don't know but maybe the greater height of the superstructure of the Yamato's was thought to give a better range or something? Then they would have to signal the carriers to "vector the CAP to 095 degrees, many unidentified aircraft heading in at 15,000 feet."
