I click on the link , there's a quick flash saying loading please wait. I wait, and nothing. Did I set up the league wrong in the beginning?

If you a) Use a template association and b) Don't take ownership of a team and c) Manually play out the season (e.g. not autoplay) then you will hit this. I just fixed it for the 1.1 update, but for now, I suggest you start a league with a non-template association. Thanks for the report BTW!
