ADM Halsey -> Failed to load saved game (5/18/2006 4:14:53 AM)

I am getting an error when trying to load a saved game file. Has anyone encountered this problem before and if so how to fix it without re-installing.

This is most likely a problem with the save game, not the installation.

Send me the save, along with any passwords.

Don

It is on its way. Thanks again.

Interesting. I'm playing Halsey. Now my save game won't load either. Something going on here???

I think it is my e-mail server. Are you getting a failure to load?

wrong info

I had to run the turn over again from the last known good save file. I am hoping this works.

Still no luck getting the games to load. I am going to send out turns using an alternate ISP to see if this helps.

In checking out this save game I found that it had been improperly compressed. Attempts to de-compress it resulted in a size specification error.

This indicates a problem occurred at some time during the compression of the game - most likely when it was being saved. I really do not know what might have caused this, but the damage is permanent - I do not believe it will be possible to recover this particular save game. Hopefully a previous turn will be available.

I would not expect anything thing with an ISP or email server to be responsible.

Sorry I can not help.

Don

I tried to play a turn that Jack told me he could not load. It was the CR that I had saved and sent to him and he reported he could not load it. I was able to load the the CR (001) and watch it. So the files are not being corrupted during the save. It would seem they may be corrupted during attachment or ISP transmission.

I am using a different ISP and using there web mail to send the files out. This way I can narrow it down to outlook or my ISP for the most part. I have not heard back from anyone yet so I will report findings later.

The email service is not a far-fetched idea. I have a similar problem when I mail my calendar file from work to home. If I use the web mail service to download it directly to my laptop, then program tells me the file is invalid. If I use Eudora to download to my desktop, then copy the file via flash drive to my laptop, it works just fine.

It was my ISP. I use the web mail at earthlink and everything was fine. After a day I used my normal account and everything is fine.
