Sinjen -> Named pilots disappearing after 1 turn (5/21/2006 3:27:53 AM)

Okay I noticed my named pilot pool was at 21 to start but I couldn't seem to pull these pilots. Maybe they were pilots who hadn't reached their historical reinforcement date or were earmarked for future squadrons. Regardless, I disbanded until I had over 122 pilots in the named pool. POOF! the next turn I'm right back down to 21. There is no way I used that many pilots in one turn. There was no major action and no groups came in. I had hoped those pilots would find their way onto my carriers. Are they gone now....Disappeared into limbo?

OK, Working on it...

I can tell you that the pilots are indeed being allocated to other airgroups.

No pilots are being lost and no data is damaged.

Will post more later.

I'm seeing this also.
This might not be a bad thing.[;)]

It would prevent putting veterans into airgroups right away.

As it stands now, the cheat is to disband the group to get pilots and planes.
Then the same turn pull both the aircraft and pilots into a different group.

A one day transfer of veteran pilots and planes to any similar group in supply.[:(]

As far as I know, this feature which was added with the last patch is not considered a cheat. It does however let pilot starved japanese players make use of trained pilots flying obsolete or non-combat aircraft. Not really sure how one could refer to that as a cheat. More of a feature. Its ludicrous to put very low level pilots in a good fighter when you have better pilots flying claudes, nates or rufes.

Nemo121 -> RE: Named pilots disappearing after 1 turn (5/22/2006 10:23:26 AM)

Where do the named pilots actually go if they aren't assigned during the turn they are created?

Halsey -> RE: Named pilots disappearing after 1 turn (5/22/2006 12:35:47 PM)

It's not only the Japanese that can do it.[;)]

So you think it's reasonable to disband a restricted command air unit?
Take the planes AND pilots, transfer them to an unrestricted unit 2000 miles away, all in the same turn?

Okay.[:D]

I lost the pilots after one turn that were in the named pilot pool AND the daitais that were in to arrive in 90 days are also lost. Just great, thatīs why I donīt like new features. If the pilots arenīt lost then I wonder where they are now. Looks like 2 of my PBEM are nearly ruined now as I lost quite some pilots and daitais. Well, only spent a year RL for them to break them because of a new patch. I never upgraded since 1.6 because I knew of the problems - now I did, now I have the problems...

Halsey -> RE: Named pilots disappearing after 1 turn (5/22/2006 10:26:06 PM)

That's a bummer.
Sorry to hear it.

I only experimented with two units.
One I used the pilots and planes from a restricted command up on the same turn.
The next group, I waited a turn to see what would happen and the pilots vanished.
Though it does show both groups as 90 days out on the reinforcement menu.
