Onime No Kyo -> Unloading in enemy port (5/24/2006 9:26:15 AM)

Hi all,

My situation is this. I have a TF that would like to unload in PM, which is currently held by the other guys. I know the TF goes in the PM hex, because it gets attacked by PTs. But by next turn it's retreating (with retirement option set to "not allowed", yet). What is the issue here, is it that it cant stay in the port with PTs there or is there somerthing else? BTW, it seems that those pesky PTs have gotten much more lively since 1.3 (which was the last time I played) since they can survive 3 night engagement with 4 BBs 3 CA and sundry DDs.

"Do not retire" means stay a bit longer and take a bit more punishment.

It does not nor has it ever meant stay no matter what (which most people seem to think because they skipped over reading the exact details of the naval missions). You want 'em to stay longer, put an agressive skipper in charge.

A side note, they are not unloading in the port because it is enemy owned, they would be unloading onto the beach (size 0).

Have you got the TF set to 'Do Not Unload' - it's easily overlooked, I do it quite often.

Translated: "Do not retire" DOES mean "stay no matter what", but only if you put in command a person who is stupid enough to do it. :)

Re. side note: That was the next thing I tried. It came up with some silly note about how the LCU cant move from that hex because "it cant trace a clear suppy route" or somesuch. And I suppose the supplies coming in from the beach dont count. Now I have to load the LCU back over the beach, clear PM of PTs and try again. But thats another story.

Thanks Frag. :)

I like it, that covers it perfectly in terms anyone can understand clearly.

First Officer: "Was that a 16" shell that just flew overhead Sir?"

Captain: "Nothing to worry about, the water is not deep enough for us to be sunk"
