The Duke -> George - How Good Is This Fighter? (5/25/2006 3:57:30 AM)

I'm in a PDU-on/PBEM in July '43....obviously, things are getting tough on me w/ the 4-engine menace growing to collossal proportions. I'm about 3-5 months out from getting the George, and need to determine how much effort to put into it's production.

For the few of you who have gotten to this point in the full-war scenario (or those playing later PBEM scenarios), how would you rank it compared with the Jack and Tony?

Beyond the George, I don't see a decent Japanese fighter until the Frank, and Japan might be rubble by then.

Thanks for the feedback...

IRL, the George could provide a decent fight for the F6F in the hands of an experienced pilot. Unfortunately, by the time it became operational, the Japanese had neither enough experienced pilots or sufficient George airframes to make much of a dent. It wasn't much of a bomber interceptor though. And like many other late war Japanese fighters, it suffered from a slew of maintenance issues. Still, it was better than the A6M overall.

Unfortunately, I have yet to receive the George in my games so I can't tell you whether it will hold up against the competition in WitP.

IIRC the George isnīt any better than the Jack. I think it even has a lower gun value, so my favourite is still the Jack - until the Shinden comes around! [;)] But by then the game will probably over anyway.

it is better vs fighters and worse vs bombers comparing to Jack
think about relation between ki44 and ki61
