Agreed on that - I don't know if I need every at bat in quite that much detail but I was definitely thinking "1 for 4, tripled and scored in the third" or some such. It might also be neat to see anything which reaches "Highlight" proportions recognized in the commentary. For example, I was managing a game in which one of my guys hit a solo HR, a 3-run HR, and topped it off by hitting a two-out, game-tied grand slam! I'd have loved for the commentary to sing out with "That's Schueller's third home run of the game! He's got 8 RBI today!" ... Less bang-for-the-buck, but it might also be nice to have the commentary touch on the team's last game: - "Michaels went 3-for-4 yesterday..." - "Johnson was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the first game..." (of a double-header) ... If we were going to tackle the entire play-by-play, you could also look at 'context', with a number of 'interesting events' called out: - "Smith is on a 12-game hitting streak." - "Richards is batting .421 with 5 HR and 13 RBI in the last ten games..." - "Roberts has been slumping, he's 2 for his last 34." - "This is Aronson's first game back after he pulled his hamstring May 21st..." - "Keller was acquired yesterday in a big five-player deal with the White Sox..."
