We've been bashing around the topic of improving Strategic Bombing on a couple of forums. I thought I'd offer this tip for getting those fragile B-24s up to effectiveness a little easier:
If you want to improve the B-24s experience and have them do something useful instead of just Training, assign the squadron to ASW patrol. Modified B-24s (PB4Y Privateers) were used throughout the war for ASW work. Fly 'em at 1000 ft and watch the I-boats sink. Since ASW missions only fly close range, you limit the amount of damage your B-24s receive from attrition and increase pilot experience.
