kipanderson -> Turn off chemical, nuclear, biological weapons? (5/29/2006 4:18:43 PM)

Hi,

When playing the tutorial I noticed gas being used by NATO. It has always been my view that chemical, nuclear and biological weapons would not have been used in a Cold War gone hot, no matter how much it was trained for and no matter what doctrine said. By either side.

Is there an option to turn them off?

I think there needs to be. I realise this is an “each to their own” issue; but that is why there needs to be an option to turn them off… if there is no such option already.

Thanks for your help,
All the best,
Kip.

Kip,

To be honest it never came up as something anyone wanted. We can add this to our list for items to be worked if another patch is required. It sounds easy to put in but there is a fair amount of code wrapped around the AI and the FSCC use of arty. We'll see what we can do.

Thanks for the info.

Although i havent had the luxury of playing FPG yet,i also think that it would be a good idea to be able to select/deselect this capability.Cetainly the use of Nuclear weapons was usually felt as a "last resort" weapon.Chemical weapons, athough "not Cricket" as us Brits may call them, would have lees of a moral taboo attached to them.

I'm not specialist but most of military analysts seem to agree whose writings I have read that in case of full scale WWIII other side would have been forced to use tactical nukes very early on.

Israel was very close of using nuclear weapons at 1973 and USA used nukes to force Japan surrender USA generals also wanted to use nukes against china at Korean War. Fact is that use of nuclear weapons have been there at very top level even at a lot smaller conflicts than WWIII.

Most of historical cases uses of nukes have been very close especially when side that has nukes has been forced on full retreat they have considered using them very seriously.
