larryfulkerson -> Decision In The North Okimaw vs LarryFulkerson (6/6/2006 1:58:28 AM)

Okimaw is the Axis player and Larry Fulkerson is the Soviet player and here's the opening
moves in turn one:

The Soviet player ( me ) is hampered somewhat in that a lot of my units are either routed or in reserve or in the exclusion zone and therefore can't be moved. But we're off to a good start

larryfulkerson -> Decision In The North, Soviet turn 1: (6/6/2006 2:23:28 AM)

I'm thinking that I can pull the Soviet units facing the Finnish troops back to the "stop" line and that way I can
use them as defense against the Germans instead.  Also, I plan to use the rivers that form a natural "V" around
Leningrad as most of my defense:

JAMiAM -> RE: Decision In The North, Soviet turn 1: (6/6/2006 2:26:22 AM)

And there you have it! The very FIRST AAR, of a PBEM game, using TOAW III. Thanks guys!

Terminus -> RE: Decision In The North, Soviet turn 1: (6/6/2006 2:31:06 AM)

The new terrain pieces look great!

Oops...nevermind. I just found out that they are using the same terrain graphics as TOAW III uses, but this is actually a CoW game. My bad.

This isn't going to be a CoW game very long. Okimaw is in the process of purchasing TOAW III even as we speak. And TOAW III will read CoW files so there's no problem with upgrading the files we're making now.

I would caution against it. If the game was started in CoW, and the scenario contains an event 500, then there may be some issues.

Best to either continue on in CoW, or to start a new game, just to be safe.

Whoa, Thanks for the heads up. I'll confur with my able opponent ( Okimaw ) as to what he wants to do. Since this is the first turn and he's buying TOAW III as we speak ( he may already have it ) he'll probably just want to duplicate our moves with the new engine.

hint, hint

JAMiAM -> RE: Decision In The North, Soviet turn 1: (6/6/2006 2:56:28 AM)

Yeah...just consider it wargaming the...errr...wargame...[;)]

larryfulkerson -> moving AARs to this section (6/6/2006 3:00:00 AM)

So um........Jamiam, now that I have you on the horn.....how do I move my Overlord '44 AAR to *this* AAR sub-section?  Can you do that or ???

Larry,
I'd actually expect it to work fine. We tested scenarios, and save games are scenarios + extra data. If you want to send me a copy of a turn file, and the original COW scenario, I can verify that it's OK.

Thanks,
Ralph

This sub-forum isn't yet showing up on the fora that I can move items to. Give Erik a day or two to get these new sub-fora set into my permissions, and I can do it for you. Otherwise, go ahead and PM Erik, and ask him to do it.

Thanks Ralph, I'll do that. But I'll have to send it to you through the development forum since *this* forum doesn't support posting zip files.

Larry,
You should be safe to upgrade. The events should come through fine.

Ralph

larryfulkerson -> Thanks to Ralph ( again ) (6/6/2006 4:59:10 AM)

Thanks Ralph.  You have saved our bacon yet again.  I'm convinced that Matrix Games made the right choice when you were tapped to be the Master Programmer for TOAW III.  I have yet to stump you with a question and I've been asking plenty.

Thanks Larry, that one was simple<g> I tried out the code, and verified that it worked. I wish I had your skill and patience with the graphics.
