How about "The Corps" series by WEB Griffin. Half Navy and half Marines. Long on fiction, but damn entertaining. Romance Novels for men. Eat some steak and eggs, bed a virgin, then go fight the Japs for the Cactus air force. Or, "Winds of War" and "War and Rememberance" by Herman Wouk. Solid history of the global war from an American naval officers perspective. I can't help looking for Cpt Pug Henry's picture when I see old photo groupings of l officers at Casablanca or Yalta. But, at three volumes and 2000 pages, it takes a commitment,
