geez the austro-hungarian army is brittle as hell...fun scenario...as u can see from the posted pic after 14 turns there is a single cavalry regiment as the only remaining combat ready unit in the whole frankfurter army...

Catch21 -> RE: the battle on mount cer 1914 (6/15/2006 8:05:31 PM)

I played this once and liked it. I believe designed by a Serbian.

But as AH one (best?) option is just get as far forward as possible T1 and dig in. IIRC this will start you with a baseline draw. Then let the Serbs attack you and let your artillery and fortified infantry do the work (deadly in WWI). Their overconfidence can destroy them- after all the AH are brittle and it was a Serb victory right?

Once they reel back in consternation, confusion and dismay, you can maybe look where you might go next.

These and other scenarios gave me a totally new perspective on WWI, where once I had thought it mind-bogglingly boring.

Arty is the big killer. And cavalry, well-rested and with high recce values can work in blitzkrieg-like fashion, getting behind enemy lines if you can find a hole in them. And don't never ever put down that shovel.
