ME262 at Berlin airshow

Erik Rutins -> RE: Check this out flyboys (6/13/2006 4:55:33 AM)

Very cool, thanks!

Tankerace -> RE: Check this out flyboys (6/13/2006 7:01:03 AM)

So that's why Chuck Yeager wasn't invited.....  [:D]

Very cool though - would not want to have one of those on my tail.

Terminus -> RE: Check this out flyboys (6/13/2006 11:13:53 AM)

Amazing. It must have taken A LOT of work to get that thing airworthy...

Nope. It's Tango Tango (Werk Nummer 501244), one of five new Me 262s that are being built with the blessing of Messerschmitt in the US. They're incredibly authentic and they've actually been assigned work numbers from 1945. J-85 engines are being used because Jumo 004s would be too unreliable but they are mounted inside castings of the original engine so as to look authentic.

Check out the project here...

You know, I was actually thinking of that while I posted... I'd heard about that project a loooooong time ago. Sure looks the part.

Yep, I was beginning to think which idiot daredevil would actually fly a 262 with original engines [;)]

Raverdave -> RE: Check this out flyboys (6/13/2006 2:19:35 PM)

I want one !

YohanTM2 -> RE: Check this out flyboys (6/13/2006 10:01:53 PM)

Hopefully the tail won't off like on our CF-18s

FlipTrac_511 -> RE: Check this out flyboys (6/14/2006 6:46:00 AM)

Amazing how well its profile has stood the test of time.  Only the F16 Falcon is as timeless IMO.

Neilster -> RE: Check this out flyboys (6/14/2006 10:50:44 AM)

Yes. If I had the cash, that's the replica I'd build and make my money back by flying it at airshows all over the world.

Cheers, Neilster

Hmm.....great vid,a very retro piece in the airshow that reminds me of the game "IL-2 Sturmovik:Forgotten Battles"~~~
Good to have in a WWII reenactment.[:D]
