panzerariete -> patch fix reconstruction problem? (6/17/2006 1:33:18 AM)

I applied beta patch , and made a test with some shorter scenarios, (scenario more than 200 turns just freeze dead with this patch). turn 1, I abandoned 2 Axis units, in expected reinforcemnt file no such units appear, I go to turn 2, check that list, still no recontruction notice . I also made an axis unit die in suicede attack, the next turn, even units killed in action, still don't appear in expected reinforment list

So I doubt that patch has really reolved non reconstruction problem. Now with patch, I still can't get reconstructed units.

What scenario did you use? Maybe the units are set by the designer not to reconstitute, which could explain why they don't show up in the expected reinforcements panel. Besides, depending on the level of replacements and available equipment at hand, there might be a delay before a unit is reintroduced in the reinforcements schedule.

Last, if the unit is destroyed while being out of supply (as calculated in the latest bookkeeping phase), all its equipment is definitevely lost and so is the unit.

Just to clarify something in this sentence. Being destroyed while out of supply does not affect whether a unit can be reconstituted. Whether, or not, the unit is designated as being eligible for reconstitution, when viewed in the scenario editor, and the availability of line one equipment are the determining factors as to whether the unit will be able to reconstitute. If destroyed while it is tagged "unsupplied" all of the unit's equipment is considered "lost".

The other problem that the original poster is likely running into, is that the units may in fact be scheduled for a possible reconstitution, but do not appear on the expected reinforcements page, because the scenarios are too short, and the unit's appearance (1-4 weeks) is too far past the nominal end of the game. A quick way to check this is to look at the formation report for the unit in question, and see if it is scheduled there. Sometimes it will show up there, but not on the scheduled reinforcement page.

I tested extensively in Tunisia 1942-1943 80turn scenario, I made splitted engineer unit die in sucide attack, I abandoned 2 German paratrooper battalion units,1 panzer unit, non of them appear in expected reinforcemnt list after 5/6 turns.

I also abandoned some units in North Africa 1940-1943 scenario, none of them appear in that list too

can anyone try the samething to see if it;s normal or not?

thanks

please tell me in which scenario you surely see units to be reconstructed, I want to try by myself

jamiam, I just tested again with last stand in Africa 1942-1943 scenario, after I abandon panzer unti in term one, even after 10 turns, still no reconstruction sign in formation report , always listed as eliminated

As for this one (Last Stand in Africa 1942-1943 isn't it?), almost all units on board are set to not reconstitute, hence their not showing in the expected reinforcement panel once destroyed. Open the game in the editor, and check Edit > Replacements > Units Replacements Priorities

Always learn (or re-learn for that matter) something new everyday. Next time, when in doubt, I'll try to engage my brain before candidating for a foot-in-mouth award.

You happened to get lucky picking the Pioneer unit. It is one of only two Axis units (the other is the 1st It Army Eng) that are set to reconstitute, and actually, judging by looking at the replacement priorities of the scenario, probably an oversight by the scenario designer as those two units are still at the default values of normal priority and yes for eligibility. Per the scenario briefing, which you should have taken the time to read, the designer explicitly states "7. No units are earmarked for reconstitution, so use your assets wisely."

No worries, Marc. I've got a whole bookcase of those awards, going back many years...[:D]
