Wineguy -> Upgrading to CHS 2.0 (6/17/2006 6:13:33 PM)

I am currently playing a PBEM game with version 1.06. I would like to upgrade to 2.0 to start a game with another opponent. Can I do this with out impacting my first game?

Thanks, Steve.

Any scenario upgrade will only affect the database.
Old scenarios remain the same.
A restart is required for the new changes to take place.

If you upgrade a map, the pwhex file must be replaced.
This will affect ALL games.
New bases will not appear in the older saved games.

Thanks for the quick response, so if I download the new map I can switch between maps and play both games. Correct?

You will only use one map, unless you have a different install for each of them.

The map will upgrade for play with your old games, minus the new bases that might have been included in the latest map version.

There is the ModSelect utility which I provide, that can be used to switch between two or more different maps. By using this utility, you can swap the maps depending on which scenario you are playing. This avoids the need to have multiple installs of the game. There are advantages and disadvantages to both this approach and the multiple install approach.
