Actually, T, this looks like a B-26 to me, but I could be wrong.

I was referring to the plane above it with the top turret right behind the cockpit. I can't think of what plane has that congiguration

No the plane called "Yankee Warrior"is indeed a B-25, not sure which model though. It may actually be a PBJ-1J, which was the Navy version of the Army J model. Many of these machines had the dorsal turret removed to save weight. The other one you were referring to, with the turret behind the cockpit is also a B-25, the J model.

B-25 or I'll poop in public.

Ursa MAior -> RE: Reading Air Show (6/19/2006 10:38:28 AM)

Whatever that means I'd like to be among the 'public'. [:D]

Houtje -> RE: Reading Air Show (6/19/2006 11:06:10 AM)

According to someone on this forum

link

it's a model B-25 model D. Btw, is the shine on the bomber because of the lack of paint? I read in Bergerud's 'Fire in the Sky' that they removed the paint on B-26s and P-38s in order to reduce weight & improve speed.

Both "Yankee Warrior" and "Briefing Time" are B-25's...

RUPD3658 -> RE: Reading Air Show (6/20/2006 3:18:36 PM)

I was there on the last day (Sunday). Did you get to hear Tibbits speak?

What did you think of the LB-30?

True, actually of many army planes by 1945. You'll see the pics of P-51s, B-24s, and B-17s were also just left in the factory shine.

Capt Cliff -> RE: Reading Air Show (6/20/2006 9:32:17 PM)

Greycompany,

That P-40 wasn't a N model! The canopy is wrong and the area behind the cockpit would be cut down. I'd say a P-40E.

Front view Of the Lancaster

Personal ramblings: always thought the Lancaster was the coolest looking bomber of ww2. Incredibly ugly, but in a dignified sort of way.

Oh yeah, more pictures.

Terminus -> RE: Reading Air Show (6/20/2006 11:14:38 PM)

Gotta love the Lanc...
