Monter_Trismegistos -> RE: FitE Soviet turn 24 (7/5/2006 11:58:10 PM)

Hi, I dont have this game, but I am great fan of your AAR. How long (in turns) is this scenario?

larryfulkerson -> FitE Soviet turn 24 (7/6/2006 12:53:18 AM)

The Scenario briefing says it's 405 turns long.  It's a monster.

larryfulkerson -> FitE Soviet turn 24 (7/6/2006 1:40:04 AM)

The Soviets managed to plug the holes in the front lines near Leningrad one more time:

larryfulkerson -> FitE Axis turn 25 (7/6/2006 2:06:45 AM)

Again, the Soviet dude got a partisan that appeared way way behind my lines.  I wouldn't have found him except I just happened to be repairing railroads in that area.  I gotta start scanning the map before I move stuff.  Either that or check the Soviet reinforcements list every turn:

larryfulkerson -> FitE Axis turn 25 (7/6/2006 2:38:42 AM)

Here's what the north half of the front lines looked like just after the second combat round of turn 25.  The Axis is breaking through the Soviet defenses in a couple of spots:

kfmiller41 -> RE: FitE Soviet turn 26 (7/7/2006 2:27:42 AM)

You think you will be able to mass the efoort to get Moscow now Larry or is is out of reach? Lenningrad looks like the better option.

The effort for the Axis to get into Moscow is probably out of reach but Leningrad is indeed still possible. I said that because there is a cease fire coming up in turn 32 ( that lasts until turn 39 ) and the Soviet will still be getting about 24 units per turn during the whole thing, and as it is the Soviet is able to plug all the holes that the Axis makes in the lines. So it looks like the Soviets might just be able to go on some kind of limited offensive this first winter.

larryfulkerson -> FitE Axis turn 27 (7/7/2006 6:30:30 AM)

Here's the Axis view of the Leningrad situation:

Another area of interest is the Zaporozhe region ( Axis view ):

larryfulkerson -> FitE Axis turn 27 (7/7/2006 8:53:53 AM)

I find it interesting that even though the Soviets have more planes on air supremacy missions the Axis is still winning the air war.  The figures below were from just after the first combat round in turn 27:

larryfulkerson -> FitE Axis turn 27 (7/7/2006 9:02:43 AM)

There was a sea battle in turn 27 where the Axis battleships floated just out of range of the Soviet destroyers and pounded them from afar, meanwhile at least four squadrons of Stukas went for the Soviet capital ships and here's the result:

You may notice that a little more than half of the stukas made it out and back.  The Soviet air defenses were fearce in the Leningrad area and in hindsight I probably should have sent some fighter escorts.

larryfulkerson -> FitE Axis turn 27 (7/7/2006 9:23:16 AM)

Here's the progress the Axis made in the Leningrad area in the first combat round of turn 27:

May also be the AA bug at work; ships seem way over-powered in terms of AA at the moment.
