The most interesting thing I have read here is that the Japanese had a plywood shortage. [:)] I can see Molybdenum, Polonium, Aluminum..even petroleum..but plywood? Were they going to include Oregon in the greater co-prosperity sphere and bring in a bunch of Koreans to work the sawmills?

I would say the two great lessons of the Pacific War were (some not learned):

1) Never fight a land war in Asia
2) Don't start a war without a strategic plywood reserve

I've read in one of the NTMs that the problem with plywood was that they were unable to produce sufficient quantities of the glue required to make it and that they had only 3 factories in Japan dedicated to making it.

And the glue shortage could be attributed to a depleted "strategic horse reserve"...probably because the poor beasts were killed in the China campaign.

Well man, i've been to Budapest in 2001 and can say that it's in no way a dirthole. Very beautiful city inhabited by many nice people.

Yea. and it's not a racism. It's a discrimination based on the country of origin (that's how they say here in the frozen wasteland). LOL.

On review, it's interesting that I find myself occupying one of Chez' earlier positions on the matter, after he abandoned (?or did he?) that position.

The real point is that Japanese bombing and torpedo accuracy is not all it was cracked up to be - in fact it was downright ...human[:'(]

Thank you. Although the nice people have recently vanished somehow, but to quote a local saying : "We are not better than others, but not worse either!".
