Dino -> Chinese LCUs not respawning (6/30/2006 6:07:25 PM)

In my v1.40 PBEM game, destroyed Chinese LCUs are not respawning.

Has this been observed before, and is there a cure?

There was a problem in earlier versions of WITP.

Solution, i think : PATCH!

In ver 1.6 or higher they come back. Trust me.

52)       Chinese units that were destroyed were not reappearing in Chunking.  Fixed.  All Chinese units (infantry and other) now reappear at the beginning of the next turn, at 1/3 strength.

Not in all cases. My current PBEM game was started under 1.6 and is patched to the most recent patch and has had some trouble.

Any units (not just Chinese) that die due to attrition will not respawn. I had a divided Chinese corps running amuck in Japan's rear area and when one of the divided parts attritioned (is that a word?) away while trying to reach friendly supply lines, it vanished from the game. A British AAA unit in Burma suffered the same fate. I think AAA units are supposed to respawn the way base forces and HQ's do, but I'm not sure.

I don't think divided units respawn, only the parent unit does.
Now it would be interesting if all the divided subunits attributed away, if the parent would respawn.[:D]

I have never had a BF respawn.
Section 15.3 of manual says only some HQs and Chinese units respawn. [Don't think this is changed?]

I just had a divided unit respawn (a /A of a Chinese corp). 1.801

Excellent!
I was afraid such sub-units would have been lost forever.

ditto - i get divided unit respawn all the time...

[:D]

The PC becomes semi-aware

The PC finds the respawn code...

Suddenly your seeing hordes upon hoards of chinese units appearing, with New, New New, New New New, New,new,new,new...etc names...

Theres suddenly really a Billion ragging chinese trying to get to Japan...

You are correct.

Apparently if a Chinese land unit wastes away, it will not be spawned.
If it died due to some form of combat, it does get respawned.
[I had Don confirm it for me during some other related testing.]

Not quite sure why there is a distiction, but as they say "WAD".
