bodeka -> Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 3:08:01 AM)

Bought the game over the weekend. Of course, I can't play
the game because I have IE 7. Hope the correction release final is
near. Looking forward to enjoying this game. From what I've read it
should be pretty sharp.

The old man clings to his patience! So far I've only found one thread (in
the locker room section) where a player shares details of a replay. Would
be nice to see more including more details about what 'sounds' are available.
Tried to find the in game sounds in the game file but only came up with
clicks etc.

SittingDuck -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 3:12:59 AM)

Yes, you can get v1.18 which runs fine on IE6.  That's what I am doing until I can figure out why v1.19 doesn't like IE6 on my machine.  And the biggest part about v1.19 is the IE7 stuff, although a few other things were done.

I'd suggest v1.18 and get to know and enjoy the game.

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 3:46:50 AM)

Really wish I could sittingduck.

But you see I have IE 7 on my PC. Days ago I tried installing IE 6 and my PC wouldn't let me. Evidently you can't go backwards. And I'm to wary of uninstalling IE 7 and then putting IE 6 in. Just too many IE 7 updates etc. Don't need any net problems.

Hence, my post, and the need for more patience until MS and Puresim can get together
for a smooth IE 7 transition.

So, how do you like the game? How does an actual pbp game look and sound?

Take care

SittingDuck -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 3:50:58 AM)

Love it.

Not sure on sounds, as I had mine off (I usually don't manage or watch games, but wish I had it on for the games I had started).  The managing is just great.  I really look forward to be in the playoffs so I can manage a meaningful game.  Meaning, I don't have time to do a season's worth of managing.

Have you tried v1.19, the one for IE7?

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 3:59:44 AM)

Yep, made a couple of threads about 1.19. Made no difference in my case.
Darn it.

What? I have to wait until you get to the playoffs to get your take on actually managing a real game? LOL Good luck!!

SittingDuck -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 5:11:18 AM)

No, I wait until then.  You could manage every game if you wanted.  Or I play those final few games when it is nip and tuck for the division championship.

The latest patch (1.19) adds full support for IE7 (As long as you have IE7 Beta3 or higher installed).

I am running IE7 on my machine now, so I can guarantee that it works. :)

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 4:26:01 PM)

Mercy. Then I guess that must mean I have other issues because it
doesn't do anything different on my machine. I'll double check to see what level
of IE 7 I have. But I have all the latest MS updates so I think I have the latest
IE 7. Not good news for me. Thanks for the input.

puresimmer -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 5:34:58 PM)

Can you expand on what you mean by it not working on your machine?

What specific issue/error do you see.

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 5:51:20 PM)

OK. Couldn't find exactly what version of IE 7 I had so I went to the site and dl and installed IE 7 beta 3. Went smooth.

Uninstalled PS2k7 and reinstalled. Registered. Added 1.19 patch. Got the same
issue report when I clicked PLAY. Something about sending report to MS. Which I went ahead and sent.

Wanted to copy and paste some of the data but it wouldn't let me do that.

Here is some of the data. Just way too much to type.

AppVr 1.1.0.9
ApStamp 44b1184b
ModName msjet40.dll
Mod Ver 4.0.8618.0
Mod Stamp 403430ac
Debug Offset 0003e10c
Code 0x0000005
Flags 0x00000000

Probably no help there. Appreciate your time puresimmer. Anything else I can do or any advise is appreciated.

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 5:55:13 PM)

When I click play a box pops up stating:

PS2k7 baseball has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Then it requests sending the error report to MS.

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/13/2006 8:54:39 PM)

Ok. I went ahead and uninstalled IE 7 beta 3 because other issues popped up unrelated to PS. Went to their community forum and there's just too much trouble listed by people. And I had some wierd dll boxes popping up when I would reboot. That's all gone now.

Since that got removed without any problems I tried again to just install the old IE 6 that was sent me. It won't install saying there is still a newer version of IE working. I'm tired of waiting and want to play the game so I'm seriously considering going ahead with my fingers crossed and uninstalling what is probably IE 7 (maybe beta 1??).

Question is I can't find it on add/remove. I'll try some stuff on the IE web for finding current versions and see if they apply to other than IE 7 beta 3.

One of these days...I'll enjoy Puresim 7. I hope. LOL

Thanks for all the help. More needed. Hmmm.

sanpurdue -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/14/2006 12:36:01 AM)

Hi Jack!

I believe that you will want to uninstall IE 7 by going to START - CONTROL PANEL - ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and then click on the ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS. Deselect Internet Explorer and I believe that will do an uninstall. I suspect you will need to reboot to take effect, or at least I would reboot and test IE. Then, hopefully, you can install IE 6. Please feel free to email me at replaybaseball@aol.com and I will try to help you if you hit any snags.

Good luck!

Mark Miller

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/14/2006 1:16:43 AM)

Sanpurdue...

Thanks for your offer of help. When I go to Control Panel/add & remove there is no direct reference to IE 7. There are over 20 Windows Security and Hotfix and updates. You aren't suggesting that I uninstall all of those are you?

IE has a box to check in Components, however, in details it just says all it will do is remove IE from the startup menu. I'm stumped.

I finally figured out that I could go to IE as my browser (normally it is SBC Yahoo) and guess what version it shows that I have?

6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2

I'm wondering if I could get this browser to be my main one for awhile that the game might run?? But how do I do that? Guess I could just get out of SBC Yahoo and hit Internet Explorer and then try the game??

sanpurdue -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/14/2006 2:44:36 AM)

Let me find the answer for making IE your default browser instead of SBC. Looks like you definitely have IE6. For future reference, my instructions above were that you will not see IE in the list of all programs, but you need to click on ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS to the left of the list of all other installed products. I think Microsoft did that on purpose so no one will uninstall IE, or at least they are hiding it so people may give up.

But, in your case, IE6 looks like it's good to go. Let me get you instructions how to make IE your default browswer.

Thanks!

Mark

sanpurdue -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/14/2006 2:46:05 AM)

Try this :-)

Internet Explorer 6.x and 5.x:

* Select "Tools | Internet Options" from the main menu in Explorer.

* Change to the "Programs" tab.

* Check the "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" option.

* Click "OK".

* Close all Explorer windows and restart the system. Once the system comes back up, restart Explorer.

* When the "Would you like to make [Internet Explorer] your default browser?" prompt appears, click "Yes" to make Explorer the default browser.

sanpurdue -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/15/2006 3:51:55 AM)

Hi Jack!

I am doing some checking on the DLL you say is the reporting the problem. At least it makes sense that you are seeing what you are seeing since it deals with ACCESS. Here is something I found on the web - no solution - just information:

The library file msjet40.dll, is one of the core components of the Microsoft Jet (database) Engine. Microsoft Jet Engine is used when reading/writing data to MsAccess databases. If msjet40.dll is unavailable or stopped, your computer will be unable to read or write to MsAccess Databases and any software that relies on this file will stop working. You should leave it, unless it is causing problems for your system.

msjet40.dll is an application that does NOT appear to be a security risk

sanpurdue -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/15/2006 3:54:15 AM)

Jack, me again :-)

I don't know if this will help, but on microsoft's website here is a link to make sure you have the latest version of msjet 4.0.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114/

"How to obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft Jet 4.0 Database Engine"

I am still going to poke around and see what I can find.

If you need to reinstall IE6, try this - found this on the web:

Hi,
I'm not sure how this is related to an update, but try this...

Go to Control Panel> Add or remove programs> Add/remove Windows components>
put a check by IE. OK your way out. Restart.

You may also have to go into Control Panel> Add or remove programs> "Set
program access & defaults" and make choices regarding "Default" and "Enable
access."

You may also have to go into Display properties> Desktop> Customize to check
IE under Desktop icons.

Hope this helps,
Don

This may be the best source of info - Microsoft's website link:

"How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP"

bodeka -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/15/2006 10:35:20 PM)

Sorry. The repair stuff was a little too deep for me.

And I can't swim. Waiting for the update final patch.

burgfan -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/17/2006 8:05:13 PM)

Where do I find public beta v1.19?  Dying to play over here!

Deltadog -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/18/2006 6:23:11 PM)

Look above in the middle section of this forum. The first thread is titled Beta Patch 1.19 available. Look in the first message in that thread and you will find a link.

Others have said that this link does not work, which I do not understand, because it worked for me yesterday. If it does not work look through other threads in the bottom section and you will find that someone has posted it on another site and has provided the link.

SittingDuck -> RE: Hope IE 7 support is near (7/19/2006 1:03:32 AM)

It was down for about a day.  Not sure why, but was up last time I checked.
