Vinnie -> Player Development Question (7/23/2006 12:03:17 AM)

Rookie Puresimmer question:

So I've just signed a 19yr old wet-behind-the-ears centerfielder. Of course most of his ratings are on the lower end, except for one, his Potential Rating is 95. So I'm banking on the hope that as he develops, he will turn into the next Torii Hunter...

My question is this: In Puresim, what is the best way to develop that young talent?

- Do I just keep him down in the minors for awhile?
- Do I promote him up to "The Show" and let him get playing time in at that level?
- Will his ratings only increase during Spring Training?
- All of the above
- None of the above

More to the point, what determines how fast Puresim increases (or decreases for older players) ratings?

Thanks in advance for advice!

I can't find the thread, but Shaun just addressed this question this past week.

Long story short, yes, it makes a major difference in a player reaching his full potential if you don't bring him along just right. Now, each player is different, so there is no set formula. But basically, you want to bring them up through the minors at the "right" pace (that's up to you to figure out). Do not send them right up to the show, or more often than not, they will fizzle and even if you put them back in the minors, they will never be the stud they could have been.

Finally, yes, you only see ratings changes during Spring Training.

Amoroq posted a guide "Strategy:Who do I put where in the minor leagues" In The Locker forum.
