supermarina -> PBEM vs. Computer (7/23/2006 1:02:29 PM)

Hi,

I wish to play with a friend of mine by e-mail against the computer AI.

I will run the Americans, he runs the British/Dutch/Australians. Both versus Japanese AI.

The first will issue his orders. Not closing the file he sends the file to the second player and then, after the orders of the second player, the file will be closed. The second player will then wiew the AI processing and will re-email the file to the first player, but..

Does exist a way to re-wiew the last combat phase when I will load the file? [&:]

thanks

Just ask to your ally to send you the save 001 with togheter with the save game file. It is the combat replay file. Open the combat, watch it, than open the save game file and do the turn.

Bye.

It doesn't work[:(]

my 001 file remains always the same... regarding 10-12-1941 action !

It sounds like you are not doing something correctly.  It should work if he sends you the 001 file that is generated when he ran the turn.  Make sure he sends you the CR, intel, and ops .txt files also since sometimes there are sync problems.  His reports should always be the correct ones.

Make sure you are saving the 001 file in the right space when you receive it from him.  That may be why you are seeing last turns reports.

scott64 -> RE: PBEM vs. Computer (7/24/2006 7:31:42 AM)

Isnt the 001 file the combat replay?

supermarina -> RE: PBEM vs. Computer (7/24/2006 11:50:34 AM)

the file 001 is the combat replay savegame normally.
but when I load it, it shows me always the same movie: 10-12-1941.

It seems that the program insn't able to re-write the file 001...

I tried to run 3 or four turns, then to exit the program, to restart and load the file 001. Nothing: it shows me the 10-12-1941 happenings.
Did I made some errors?[&:]

It could be that the game uses the 001-slot only in designated PBEM games. Is that 10-12-1941 combat report you keep seeing from a PBEM game?

supermarina -> RE: PBEM vs. Computer (7/24/2006 1:38:03 PM)

I see always the same file. I tried to load 001 with "PBEM" mode on, and with "Japanese computer" mode: the result is the same.

I'm afraid the the 001 will be changed only in real PBEM games...[:(]

but, it's strange anyway...

It seems so. But why don't you just safe the game immediately before the last Allied player ends his turn, and then mail that save to your partner. Both of you can now watch the combat report when hitting end turn. The report should be identical unless one of you changes something in the game.

supermarina -> RE: PBEM vs. Computer (7/24/2006 2:04:04 PM)

Yes, I thought to resolve in this way. I'm not sure that the combat phase will be identical but I think it's the only way to fix the problem.
The manual states that the combat file will be identical in the PBEM games for security reasons, thus I don't know if this will be sure in "solitary" mode.

Thank you very much for the tips!
